Advances in biomedical science have resulted in dramatic improvements in the medical care of chronically ill and handicapped children. Past measurement problems have resulted in a lack of clarity regarding the psychological adjustment of these children. The mothers of 270 chronically ill and handicapped children were administered the Child Behavior Checklist in an attempt to identify patterns of behavioral functioning across six pediatric chronic disorders: juvenile diabetes, spina bifida, hemophilia, chronic obesity, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, and cerebral palsy. In general, it was found that children in all chronic disorder groups were perceived by their mothers as evidencing on the average …

Cranial surgery has been performed for thousands of years among a wide range of cultures. Although the extent of its use has varied, ethnographically the operation has almost always been used as a form of medical treatment following cranial trauma or as a remedy for head pain. This paper describes two cases of cranial trauma on Australian Aboriginal remains from widely separated areas of the continent. The position and morphology of the trauma, as well as other associated features, suggest that these individuals underwent some form of surgical procedure. In the report, we tried to go through concepts and organization of the database to provide an understanding of the system. Details of operation of the INMAGIC program itself have been left to the instruction manual which accompanies the software. The report includes information on getting started using the INMAGIC program with the literature database, on organization of the database, and on print formats useful with the reference data.
