In 2019, Greta Thunberg delivered her “How Dare You” speech that captivated the social and political world. Throughout her speech she tethered ideas of extinction, future generations, and coalitional movements. These topics encouraged the Political and Social world to contemplate the reality of climate crisis and generated support for the Youth Climate Movement. However, Thunberg garnered a lot of attention that ultimately overshadowed the worksof other youth activists, particularly BIPOC activists. This essay situates animal advocacy as the vital bridge connecting the struggle to protect the rights of human beings with the struggle to protect all living beings. Freeman theorizes why animal advocacy is marginalized among social movements, and explains why the movement should be considered central to a sustainable society that maintains justice for all sentient beings. Focusing on common ground between animal advocacy, human rights, and environmental advocacy an ideological basis is proposed on which these movements can coalesce to resist the ever-increasing corporate exploitation of life. The Bush Doctrine, which was installed after the 9-11 attacks on the United States under the guise of the war on terrorism, postulated a vision of the United States as the world’s unchallenged superpower and the invasion of Iraq became one of the central fronts of this war. After failing to get approval by the United Nations for the invasion, the Bush Administration’s attempt to assemble a coalition of the willing became critical to the battle for public opinion to back the war. A Community Coalition Promotes Family Literacy With Story Celebrations, M. Susan Mcwilliams

A coalition is typically formed between individuals or groups to bring unique strengths together in a cooperative manner to address a common cause. In our community, an alliance was formed to raise public consciousness about the impact of family reading on children's literacy development. As a coalition, we planned, organized and funded literacy-related events or story celebrations in multiple locations throughout the community. In this article, I describe and provide rationale for creating a coalition that advocates for family literacy.
