Honoring A Giant: Immanuel Wallerstein And His Contributions To Social Sciences, Vladimir Alalykin-Izvekov

As a salute to a preeminent social scholar of our times, Immanuel M. Wallerstein (1930-2019), this paper briefly highlights his biography, education, and academic career; however, it is mainly concerned with his scholarly concepts and theories. The author attempts to follow the development process of one of his main contributions to social sciences, the world-systems approach, as well as to analyze various important aspects of it, including its historic and philosophic significance.
