Introduction

Purpose of the Study

The topic considered in this thesis is the construction and validation of six mental health sub-scales which are based upon procedures controlling for age, sex, and educational status. Each item in a 22 item mental health scale is tested for validity by age, sex, and educational status. Six sub-scales, one for each dichotomy of the three social groups, are constructed from this procedure. The validity of these sub-scales is then tested via six different criteria of mental health. This study attempts to examine community group relationships as manifested in the intersection of organized community groups actively involved in, and being themselves affected by urban renewal activities within two Detroit neighborhoods. Basic to this examination is the necessity for understanding the various organizational units making up the community groups commonly found in renewal activities and their functions within such development programs. Occlusal Patterns And Tooth Morphology In The Navajo Indians Of Monument Valley, Utah, Leroy C. Trnavsky

Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects

The occlusal patterns and morphology of the dentition of the Navajo Indians were studied and compared to those of populations of known Mongoloid ancestry. Thirteen dento-anthropomorphic characteristics were studied from plaster casts obtained from fifty-four Navajo Indians from the Monument Valley area of Utah. The thirteen characteristics included were:

  1. Degree of shovel-shape of the maxillary centrals and laterals.
  2. Presence of a winged appearance in the maxillary centrals.
  3. Mesiodistal crown diameters of the maxillary centrals and laterals.
  4. Type of lingual tubercle on the maxillary centrals and laterals.
  5. Cusp pattern of mandibular molars.

In the following paper an attempt has been made to delineate and analyze a field of psychology which has commonly been referred to as "New Look" Perception. The primary concern of the majority of investigators in this area has been to support their hypotheses about cause and effect relationships between motivation and perception.
