Spiritual Gifts, Pastoring, And Gender: An Ongoing Dialogue, Boubakar Sanou
Spiritual Gifts, Pastoring, And Gender: An Ongoing Dialogue, Boubakar Sanou
Journal of Applied Christian Leadership
"in Joel 2:28-29, god promises an innovation regarding how he will make his Spirit available in the last days ... god promises to give his Spirit and gifts without discrimination to both genders (“your sons and daughters,” and “both men and women”), young and old, from all walks of life, races, and social strata. in Acts 2:16-21, the apostle Peter quotes Joel 2:28-32 to assert that the equal filling of the Spirit for the 120 disciples (among whom were women, cf. Acts 1:14) was an element of the fulfillment of god’s promise through the prophet Joel. he also points out …

Adventist Women Clergy: Their Call And Experiences: Part 2, Leslie Bumgardner
Adventist Women Clergy: Their Call And Experiences: Part 2, Leslie Bumgardner
Journal of Applied Christian Leadership
This article describes “what happened” to the female pastors whose ministry experiences were reported in the previous JACL issue. Today, only one remains in pastoral ministry. Others are experiencing their “call” in new situations or are retired. They describe challenges related to gender as well as supports. Ordination did not dominate the interviews although the women were clearly disappointed by the vote against ordination of women in pastoral ministry at the General Conference session of the Seventh-day Adventist church in July 2015.
Language As Leadership, Shirley Freed
Language As Leadership, Shirley Freed
Journal of Applied Christian Leadership
"Human beings have a fundamental connection to “home.” Christian leaders all have the underlying goal of leading the way home. We speak of heaven as home; we use phrases like, “home is where the heart is,” and “home Sweet home.” When circumstances are difficult, when we are worn and discouraged, we lean on life’s tired dreams and murmur, “i just want to go home.” home means many things to each of us, but i think that language is one of the vehicles that takes us home. For example, i always jump when i hear a Canadian accent, and i say …
A Gendered View Of Servant Leadership
A Gendered View Of Servant Leadership
Journal of Applied Christian Leadership
"No significant differences existed in the number of years of supervision or the participants’ perception of organizational change or stability. there were, however, significant differences between age groups and different work sectors with regard to servant leadership attitudes and behaviors. the results not only contribute to the literature concerning gender and servant leadership but also suggest that future research concerning servant leadership with respect to age and workplace sectors may be warranted. Challenges Of Postmodern Thought In Christian Higher Education Institutions: Implications For Ethical Leadership, Dean A. Darroux
Journal of Applied Christian Leadership
"The study investigated the question: What is the process that Christian higher education administrators and faculty members used when understanding the challenges of postmodern thought at the institutions, and what are the challenges for ethical leadership? Utilizing a grounded theory methodology, the researcher sought to develop a theory that examined how fifteen Christian higher education administrators and faculty understood the challenges of postmodern thought at their institution and determined what were the implications for ethical leadership. The findings of this study revealed the following theory: The study identified six categories that served as the framework for understanding the process Christian …
