The article discusses distinguishing features of the American humor and satire. National peculiarities of American satirical short stories are analyzed via examples of the works of American short-story writers. The main attributes of satire, its history, genres as well as the specifics of the genre are considered. The phenomena of satirical short story popularity in America is analyzed. Stylistic devices, comic creation means, implemented in the works of the XX century American writers are distinguished.

By means of comparative-typological tools the article describes the ‘Transformation’ motif as one of the most ancient, traditional motifs in the oral and written literature of the world. It explains the existence of general and specific features comparing poetic appearances and functions; correlation between genesis and mythological thinking, as well as the usage of remnants in modern literature on the basis of poetic innovations.

The present paper examines heroic system in oral epics and notion about 'sohibqironlik'. The article compares heroic system in 'Alpamysh', 'Gurugli' and meaning of sohibqironlik in 'Timurname'. Amir Temur who was respected statesman named as a Sohibqiron and introduced Uzbek people to the world by his considerable ability and great wits is revered as a national hero in Central Asian history.
