Much remains to be learned about law’s impact on collaboration. Although law is one of the foundational disciplines of public administration, scholars assert that the field focuses on management principles to the detriment of law. Whether this assertion is correct as a general matter for the field, collaboration scholarship lacks empirical examination of the law’s role in collaboration processes.

Marine debris is a wicked problem and there is a call for action for stakeholders from across multiple sectors to address this issue in Virginia. Marine debris can have negative impacts on navigation, aquatic life, recreation, and economies. Research is rapidly growing on ocean debris, but so far, it is limited regarding estuarine river debris in an industrial port and harbor. River systems function as pathways to the sea for the transport of plastic pollution that can be detrimental due to animal ingestion, entanglement, and accumulation. Trust And Contexts: A Conceptual Framework For Understanding Coastal Household Preparedness, Ogechukwu M. Agim Nwandu-Vincent

Despite research findings that show the benefits of being prepared for increasingly tumultuous natural and coastal hazard events, studies on hazard preparedness indicate that low levels of preparedness may occur in vulnerable areas due to the uncertainty around hazard risks, expected hazard onset and impact strength, as well as associated effects. Study findings indicate that trust may impact the uncertainty and complexity faced by people dealing with unfamiliar, infrequent, and complex hazards, as well as contexts such as factors such as age, gender, prior hazard experience, and homeownership.
