From Jim Crow To Diversity : Racial Formation As Institutional Logic In The U.S. National Park Service, 1935-2011, Rick Caceres-Rodriguez

Legacy Theses & Dissertations (2009 - 2024)

This study uses the U.S. National Park Service (NPS) as case to study how racial formation in organizations is shaped by the changing institutional logics of race. It draws from the institutional logics perspective to advance theorizing on race in organizations as a multi-level process structured by societal race dynamics. It does so by studying three critical moments in the history of the NPS in which the organization was exposed, and had to respond to, varying logics of race.

The Organizational Antecedents Of Public Service Motivation In The Korean National Assembly Staff Workforce, Eunhyoung Kim

Legacy Theses & Dissertations (2009 - 2024)

Over the past few decades, research on public service motivation (PSM) has flourished internationally in the field of public administration. Antecedents Of Government Employees' Organizational Citizenship Behavior : Impacts Of Prosocial Orientation, Organizational Identification And Subjective Ocb Norms, Dong Chul Shim

Legacy Theses & Dissertations (2009 - 2024)

This study attempts to provide a comprehensive understanding of the antecedents of public employees' organizational citizenship behaviors (OCBs). Using Deci and Ryan's Self-determination theory as an overarching framework, this study tests the argument put forth by public management researchers that public employees' OCB will be influenced by their personal beliefs and organizational values as well as by their general satisfaction with their work environment. Based on this notion, public employees' prosocial orientation, organizational identification and subjective OCB norms are thus examined as major antecedents of OCB in this study.

Fair Treatment, Job Involvement, And Turnover Intention Of Professional Employees In Government : The Importance Of Organizational Identification As A Mediator, Shahidul Hassan

Legacy Theses & Dissertations (2009 - 2024)

Although organizational justice is a critical issue for effectively managing employees in government agencies, it has been neglected in previous public management research. Further, the limited amount of research that has examined the consequences of organizational justice in government agencies did not clarify the underlying psychological process through which perceptions of organizational justice may influence public sector employees' work attitudes and behaviors. Specifically, previous research did not examine any indirect effect that employees' perceptions of organizational justice may have on their attitudes and behaviors in government agencies. To fill this gap, this dissertation examined the role of organizational identification as …
