AbstractThe lived experiences of allied health assistants (AHAs) are not well understood regarding organizational justice (OJ) and their sense of inclusion within their workplace. Although, OJ and inclusion have been an area of study among scholars for over a decade; the amount of literature supporting AHAs perceptions of these constructs is limited. The purpose of this phenomenological study was to gain a deeper understanding of AHAs’ perceptions of the components of OJ (i.e., distributive, and procedural) and the potential implications for their sense of inclusion. Balanced diversity in health care promotes patient satisfaction and enhances innovation. Obtaining a culturally balanced workplace requires recruitment strategies that encourage inclusiveness among team members from various backgrounds. The purpose of this doctoral study was to explore the issue of lack of diversity in a behavioral health organization’s (BHO’s) student intern program and identify strategies for creating greater diversity in the workplace. There is limited research on the impact of diversity and inclusion programs on the organizational commitment levels of Black Millennials. This quantitative study, which was guided by social identity theory, examined discrimination in the corporate workplace faced by Black Millennials, born between 1977 and 2000, and how it influences their organizational commitment. The purpose was to examine whether the presence of diversity and inclusion programs moderated the relationship between perceived discrimination and organizational commitment. The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported workforce disparities in the representation of minority ethnic groups in leadership positions for more than 5 decades. In 2011, Executive Order 13583 initiated the Government-wide Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Plan, directing federal agencies to recruit a diverse workforce, cultivate inclusion across occupations, and develop strategies to enable leading a diverse workforce. In general, doctoral programs in counselor education and supervision (CES) have low minority enrollments. Faculty members in clinical mental health counseling (CMHC) master's degree in science (MS) programs primarily come from CES doctoral programs; therefore, faculty members do not generally reflect the diversity of the MS student population.
