On December 20, Spain will hold national elections to determine the new prime minister and national and local parliaments. These elections will be another crossroads in the long history of Spain. The elections come about in a political and social atmosphere of ‘change’ and ‘regeneration,’ marked by the rise of two new political parties, Podemos and Ciudanos. This newsletter began with the Fall 2015 Honors English class. These students were challenged to initiate research over a topic they thought was interesting and show how it related to our campus, Stephen F. Austin State University. In particular, it analyzes what principles of Second and Third Wave Feminism can be applied to the women of Wall Street. From time immemorial, Wiyot people lived in permanent villages around North or Arcata Bay. Tidal flats and sloughs, bay channels, brackish marshes, creeks, and seasonal wetlands and ponds were the nature of things, all providers of food and materials. The people fished, harvested bivalves and crustaceans, gathered plant materials, and hunted waterfowl, marine mammals, and upland game. The bay and its environs sustained them.
