Literature in the counseling profession has emphasized the importance of recognition of the potential impact of counselor bias on clinical care for decades. A large body of research has been developed on the potential for the personal, social, and religious beliefs of clinical mental health counselors (CMHCs) to impact their work with clients, but comparatively little research has been conducted on the potential impact of the political beliefs of CMHCs and their clinical practice, creating a gap in the professional literature. Authority, Legitimacy, And The Obligation To Obey The Law, Richard Dagger

According to the standard or traditional account, those who hold political authority legitimately have a right to rule that entails an obligation of obedience on the part of those who are subject to their authority. In recent decades, however, and in part in response to philosophical anarchism, a number of philosophers have challenged the standard account by reconceiving authority in ways that break or weaken the connection between political authority and obligation. This paper argues against these revisionist accounts in two ways: first, by pointing to defects in their conceptions of authority; and second, by sketching a fair-play approach to …

This study is designed to examine and evaluate the basic beliefs and actions of the John Birch Society. It is not intended to determine the proper location for the Society on the American political spectrum, but to merely represent an opinion. An objective approach is intended, but the conclusion expresses a point of view, which, I hope, is clear and consistent enough to allow those who may disagree to take issue.
