John Rawls published A Theory of Justice in an attempt to find a balance between equality and liberty through the use of a social contract. For Rawls the theories of utilitarianism and intui-tionism do not fully answer the questions concerning justice in society. My study focuses on the two principles of justice, the liberty and difference principles, which are the center of Rawls' theory. These principles are achieved through a contract developed in what Rawls calls the original position.
