Determining The Interruption Of Services While Performing V2i Communication Using The Spmd Prototype, Binaya Raj Joshi Nov 2016

Determining The Interruption Of Services While Performing V2i Communication Using The Spmd Prototype, Binaya Raj Joshi

Student Work

The use of Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V), Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I), Vehicle to Roadside Unit (V2R) and Vehicle to Other (V2X) communications are increasingly applied over existing and upcoming transportation means by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) and other federal agencies. From previous statistical data, these technologies would primarily avoid or mitigate vehicle crashes and would provide more safety, mobility and various other benefits on the roads (“Traffic Safety Facts 2012,” 2013; “Traffic Safety Facts 2013” 2014). During the communication processes between vehicles, infrastructures and roadside units’ various sensitive data such as positions and speed of the vehicles, …

Is It Windy Enough For You? The Potential For Wind Energy To Generate Electricity, Income, And Energy Security In Rural East-Central Nebraska, Roy M. Zach Apr 2009

Is It Windy Enough For You? The Potential For Wind Energy To Generate Electricity, Income, And Energy Security In Rural East-Central Nebraska, Roy M. Zach

Student Work

Citizens living in the Columbus, Nebraska area once met all of their local electric power needs via the Columbus and Monroe hydropower facilities. Today, this area imports significant quantities of electricity via high voltage power transmission lines, thereby creating dependencies on areas far away. The purpose of this study was to examine the potential for wind power within this area of Nebraska—in order to generate electricity, income, and energy security at a more local level. A thorough analysis of the local wind resource, and its comparison to the local electric power demand, demonstrates the economic feasibility of producing electricity from …

Sedimentologic And Paleogeomorphologic Character Of The Western Beteiha Plain, Israel, Laura Baker Jul 2000

Sedimentologic And Paleogeomorphologic Character Of The Western Beteiha Plain, Israel, Laura Baker

Student Work

The geographical problem addressed in this study was to reconstruct the paleogeography of the western Beteiha Plain, located between Bethsaida and the Sea of Galilee and determine its sedimentologic and paleogeomorphologic character. Grain size analysis of sediments, along with sediment color was used to reconstruct the landscape and identify areas such as estuaries or lagoons.

Sediment samples were collected throughout the Beteiha Plain at selected locations. Excavation and collection was accomplished with hand-driven core equipment and backhoe trenches.

The multidisciplinary approach used in this project included fieldwork for sediment collection, laboratory analysis for the production of the data necessary to …

Gully Evolution In The Upper Delaware River Basin Northeastern Kansas, Iona L. Meyer Nov 1992

Gully Evolution In The Upper Delaware River Basin Northeastern Kansas, Iona L. Meyer

Student Work

A small gully network developed across a pasture in the Dissected Till Plain of northeastern Kansas was monitored for one year to assess gully evolution in non-loessial materials. The objectives of this investigation were to identify stable and unstable drainage elements within the gully network; identify zones of net erosion and deposition; estimate the volume of sediment removed or deposited during the monitoring period; determine rates of headcut advancement; determine processes that advance and widen gullies, and to determine the historic development of the gully network.

Portions of the gully network were measured after every rain event exceeding 1.5 cm …

Lakeside Homes Around Tuttle Creek Reservoir: An Element In The Local Settlement Fabric, Gary Lee Henton Apr 1974

Lakeside Homes Around Tuttle Creek Reservoir: An Element In The Local Settlement Fabric, Gary Lee Henton

Student Work

'l'he construction of several large reservoirs in the Midwest has brought about the growth of innumerable ancillary developments. The increased number of new homes, located adjacent to the reservoirs represents a growing component of our settlement fabric. Geographers have done studies on recreational developments, (Wolfe, Roy L., "Summer Cottages in Ontario"1 Howes, Robert· M., "Recreational Opportunities Arising from Reservoir Construction,"2) but little published investigation has been done in the Kansas, or Nebraska area. How important are the lakeshore homes now, and what part will they play in future housing? Who are the people currently occupying these structures? Where do they …
