Abstract: This paper presents a comprehensive step-by-step process for customizing the Koha Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) at GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, GITAM University, Visakhapatnam. The primary objective is to demonstrate the customization stages of the Koha OPAC, offering library professionals an opportunity to leverage its full potential. The key highlights include implementing "Koha New Arrivals 3D Cover flow Display on OPAC without Carousel Plug-in (without a server using)" and integrating Library Statistics within the OPAC.

Purpose: An online public access catalogue (OPAC) is an online database of all the resources and materials available in a particular library. OPAC could potentially replace the old fashioned card catalogue as a means of helping library users to find the resources which they want. The purpose of the study is to explore various aspects of the customization of Koha OPAC.

Methodology: An experimental research method has been adopted for the study to customize the OPAC. HTML, Java and CSS coding has been used as a command to customize the front view of the OPAC.

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to investigate the awareness level of librarians about various ICT applications in University of the Punjab (PU) and to examine the constraints and issues they are facing in acquisition of modern ICT skills.

Methodology

A questionnaire was developed and administered to 80 professional librarians having graduate and postgraduate qualification. Data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS 19.0).

Findings

Data analysis revealed that 99% of the participants are computer literate, having good knowledge of library automation and digitization. The knowledge of web based services such as e-mail, search engine, chatting, e-resources …

During the fall semester of 2012, the Kimbel Library and Bryan Information Commons conducted a LibQUAL+ survey to gauge how patron needs were being met. Many survey respondents commented that there were not enough computers for use in the library buildings. This issue was remedied by the addition of over 70 percent more computer workstations in the new commons building, a move that was well received by patrons. This Article addresses 'spamdexing,' namely, the practice of stuffing invisible keywords into webpages in order to try to get more favorable listings with search engines. For instance, some website owners will stuff the trademarks of competitors into a webpage’s code, particularly by using 'meta tags,' indexing keywords that can be hidden in a webpage’s source code. Although meta tags are not typically viewed by users, the code can be read by search engines, with the result that webpages may be improperly boosted in search engine rankings.
