This preliminary research examines the health information practices of South Carolina LGBTQ+ communities. Findings have the following implications for LIS education at a global level: building cultural competency regarding the role of information in marginalizing certain populations, and training students to engage in user outreach and advocacy. These implications address a global need for LIS education to encompass social responsibility and inclusion into program curricula.

The present study is an online endeavour by the researchers to create a web directory to give a brief account of library and information science professionals working in different institutions in Tamilnadu. The researchers have chosen Wordpress – an open source blogging software and domain – to create an online directory of LIS professionals because of its simplicity and powerful features. The researchers who have a good understanding of Wordpress blogs, collected data about 50 LIS professionals working in universities and arts and science colleges of about 10 districts. The purpose of this research is to investigate the social status of Library and Information Science from the point of view of librarians of public libraries in Guilan province, Iran. This research is an applied research and has been conducted through a survey method. The statistical population of the study consisted of 199 librarians working in public libraries of Guilan province, Iran. Using Morgan's table, 127 subjects were selected as sample size and 124 of them responded to the questionnaire. The study is on social media utilization in the teaching of library and information science courses in tertiary institutions. Survey design was adopted for the study. Three research questions were raised and answered while one null hypothesis was tested. The population of the study consisted of 41 Library and Information Science lecturers. A structured and questionnaire was used for data collection. The instruments yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.75. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while t-test was used to test the null hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The findings from the study …

This study was designed to investigate the effect of just-in time on the academic achievement and interest of students offering cataloguing and classification course in Anambra State. In other to effectively carry out the study, it adopted the quasi experimental design particularly the pretest and posttest non-equivalent control group. The open access landscape is highly disruptive to established publishing practices and large changes are taking place globally in this arena. Some dismiss and resist the evolution of open access publishing practices as disreputable progress and wish to turn back the clock while others laud it as the future rise of scholarship.

This presentation will provide a broad overview of the open access discussion and focus on several research projects currently underway to ascertain faculty, student, and alumni reactions to their own open access author- and reader-ship from both developed and transition countries.

This study aimed at developing an e-learning platform for UGC-NET/JRF (University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test/Junior Research Fellowship) candidates in the field of Library and Information Science (LIS). At the initial stage, the content was developed according to the syllabus of UGC and, a jury of experts validated it. The Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) was used to integrate and deliver the e-content, and the portal was hosted on a separate website (http://lislearning.co.in/) to ensure remote access. The study also addressed the need for e-learning in LIS and points out the scope and directions for future research.

The ACRL Impactful Scholarship and Metrics Task Force has created a framework draft that is designed to help librarians and libraries contextualize their impact within academic librarianship. To create this framework, the task force studied existing disciplinary models, institutional guidelines, and surveyed academic librarians. The task force discovered few standard practices regarding impact measurement from disciplinary societies or in institutional documentation, but did find some larger models outlining distinct impact areas. The proposed framework outlines evaluation in two primary impact areas for academic librarians, scholarly and practitioner impact, with suggested metrics for a range of research outputs in each category. …
