Graduate students in education at my university conduct systematic reviews (SRs) as part of their dissertations as well as for publications. During the initial consultation with a graduate student, I often review the steps of a SR and suggest resources about the SR methodology. Yet, students seem to prefer to utilize journals articles as a guide, even though these example articles might not report all the SR steps. Proposal Abstract: A New Normal Agenda in a COVID-Affected World
During the COVID-19 pandemic, libraries became a vital community support hub for information and broadband access. In March 2020 as K-12 schools and universities shifted to all-online classes, librarians taught people to use technologies, provided wireless hubs for classes and homework to those lacking home broadband digital access, and offered distance education test proctoring as well as online books, articles and databases. People sought information about sewing masks and making homemade hand sanitizer, and some library makerspaces 3-D printed face shields. In Spring 2009, the Library Advisory Board agreed to fund a proposal for the Libraries to collaborate with campus partners to provide support to faculty who were faced with several initiatives that impact the way faculty deliver their course content, develop their assignments and assess their success. These initiatives include the movement to large enrollment classes, especially for large impact, core courses; the redesign of the general education requirements around universal learning outcomes; and, enhancing the first-year experience for incoming students. There is no single entity on campus in a position to provide the faculty support and development needed.
