Wellbeing, Edib, And The Promise Of Leadership Development, Kristin Vogel, Sue Erickson

Morale research over the past several years documents a crisis in the library profession and a 2021 report by Ithaka S+R reveals a confidence deficit in library administrators around work towards equity, diversity, inclusivity and belonging. The connections between belonging, resilience, and morale are strong and immediate action is required to address the crisis. This article posits that a strategic approach to leadership development, with a focus on coaching, is key to bridging the gap. Authentic and adaptive leadership models as supportive strategies are explored and a coaching approach to management is presented to launch readers into their next action.

More and more libraries are investigating the possibility of breaking apart or unbundling their Big Deal publisher packages. In doing so, libraries acknowledge and ready themselves for the possibility of a significant portion of journal use shifting to interlibrary loan (ILL), and attempt to estimate what this shift from subscription to the ILL mode means in terms of costs. This study investigates three years of ILL usage data for 169 journals prior to undertaking subscriptions and then COUNTER usage for these same journals over a three year subscription period. A recent institutional study at the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay investigated the academic achievement of interlibrary loan (ILL) users as compared to non-ILL users. While this study provided important local insight into ILL use and the demographics of ILL users (class rank, major), it uncovered a rather minor overall GPA difference,.20 GPA points, between ILL users and non-ILL users. However, within these data was an interesting subset that once thoroughly investigated, provided rich details about ILL article use, the users who rely on ILL for articles, and the GPA differences between users across the spectrum of ILL article use. Norbert was born around 1080 in the town of Xanten on the Dutch-German border. He was a member of the privileged class. His father was the Count of Gennep, and his mother was a cousin of the reigning Holy Roman Emperor, Henry IV.

Biographical materials about the five presidents who have served in the administration of St. Norbert College appear to abound in number. Many of these, however, are scattered in various locations---some in local and Green Bay newspaper files, some in De Pere and Green Bay historical society archives, some in the St. Norbert Abbey Archives, and a goodly share in the St. Norbert College Archival area. This booklet, then, is an attempt to bring some of this material about the presidents into a composite of the 'first five'.

A Coat of Arms or Crest is defined as a shield marked with insignia or designs (heraldic bearings) of a person, family, or institution. The St. Norbert College coat of arms is modeled after that of Berne Abbey in Holland, the abbey from which the founders of the Norbertine Order in the United States came in 1893.

The first honorary doctorate degrees conferred at St. Norbert College were granted in 1949 at the 50th anniversary commencement. Commencement ceremonies were held on the campus grounds between Boyle and Main Halls, and doctorates were awarded to the Very Rev. Msgr. Fulton J. Sheen, to Mr. Frank J. Sensenbrenner, to Mr. John Raskob, to Miss Helen Constance White, and to the Rev. J.B. McElwaine, S.J.

The Adolph And Ella Frankenthal Reading Room, St. Norbert College

Adolph and Ella Frankenthal, in whose honor this library reading room is dedicated were immigrants, refugees from Nazi Germany, who found their desire for freedom and love of work in America. Their memorial is a triumph for liberty and knowledge and a defeat for obstruction of learning and dictatorships- a reading room, a "book center" were wisdom may be reserved. It is fitting, perhaps, that Adolf and Ella Frankenthal, who fled Nazi book-burnings and racial persecution, will be honored in a center of learning.
