Purpose: The purpose of this poster is to demonstrate the value of having a best practices working group to explore software programs and develop policies and procedures for the creation of online instructional materials. In addition, we would like to emphasize the importance of partnering with the other libraries within a University or other organization to share ideas and avoid duplication of effort. Simulations, Outreach And Health Sciences Libraries: A Triple Play For Success, Jennifer Deberg, Sarah Andrews, Linda Walton, Amy Blevins, Chris Childs

Purpose: Our library staff has been partnering with faculty to develop curricula using simulation equipment for various outreach programs to youth in the state. The simulation center is housed and managed by our library. This presentation will recount the development and expansion of this two-year old program and describe its various components. The programs are aimed at grades 5-12 to stimulate interest in science and health care professions through engagement and participation in a variety of interactive educational sessions using simulation equipment, such as eye exams, neurological/cognitive assessments, and cardiac rhythm evaluation. This case study aims to provide a description of the specific ways that previous experience in a medical profession may lend value in the establishment of liasion relationships with academic and clinical professionals.
