This article reports on the current state of health disclaimers, online health resources, and credibility markers provided on public library websites (N = 105) for those seeking health information. In light of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), these findings have implications for consumer health reference services in public libraries. Approximately half of the public library websites in the study sample (n = 52, 49.5%) referred users to the ACA Health Insurance Marketplace website (HealthCare.gov). For libraries who embrace patron-driven acquisitions, the workflows of ILL, Acquisitions, and Collection Development are becoming more interdependent. Workflows that are traditionally siloed in different systems impede the efficient provision of library materials. The Getting It System Toolkit for ILLiad (http://www.gistlibrary.org/) provides an elegant solution to this problem.

Copyright Clearance Center's "Get it Now" service gives libraries the ability to provide immediate fulfillment of full-text articles from unsubscribed journals from over a dozen publishers. Eastern Kentucky University Libraries implemented "Get it Now" as a mediated ILL service starting in July of 2011. In this session, presenters discussed lessons learned during the implementation of the service, gave an overview of the fulfillment workflow, and outlined its successes and limitations.

With flat or declining budgets and rising prices, most libraries need to find new ways to provide access to the significant amount of content that our users need. Following a user-centered philosophy, Eastern Kentucky University Libraries have implemented several new approaches for acquiring print and electronic resources. Initiatives have included: Patron-driven eBook collections - both broad and subject-specific; article-level purchasing using Copyright Clearance Center’s Get it Now service; and ILL initiated collection development for print resources. Collection building in the digital age aims to create a collection of "freely accessible, integrated, and comprehensive record of serious scholarship and knowledge." Library collections are broadly defined as all the resources libraries make available to users—items purchased, locally created or reformatted digital materials, subject guides, social networking tools, and content freely accessible in digital collections around the world. New selectors must master several enduring skills related to collection policy, management of print and digital resources, budget management, and liaison with clientele.
