Addressing feedback-associated stress as a barrier to learning is increasingly relevant to student success and well-being. Mindfulness practices support stress management for students during the academic feedback process. Even if students receive high-quality feedback, the receiving end of feedback can be stressful, perhaps raising feelings of anxiety, confusion, or inadequacy. Feedback literacy and mindfulness practices complement one another. Mindfulness can potentially support feedback literacy by focusing one’s attention on the tasks needed to address feedback, instead of being distracted by emotions triggered by feedback. This study, comprised of an online survey (n = 237) and focus groups (n …

The purpose of this study was to determine if labyrinth
walking in an academic library would reduce library user stress
and promote relaxation. A non- equivalent control group design
was employed. Systolic blood pressure was significant for time effect
(effect size of .136, and power .721). Pulse rate was significant for
time effect (effect size 0.93, and power .507). Satisfaction survey
results demonstrated increased satisfaction after labyrinth walking.
Data from this pilot will form the basis of a larger scale study to
determine the effect of labyrinth walking on stress particularly in
high-stress learning environments.

Does the assuming these higher level tasks, such as creating the call number and subject headings, cause any undue stress for the paraprofessional? What is the stress from workload and pace?

The mlas is a 53 question Likert scale instrument that measures the construct of library anxiety. Participants in the study were law students enrolled in a private midwestern university during the 2009-2010 academic year who completed the survey instrument. Law students are a unique graduate school population who undergo an extremely rigorous and competitive course …
