In the last year, the Library at Minnesota State University, Mankato has launched two repositories for digital content, Cornerstone: A Collection of Scholarly and Creative Works and ARCH: University Archives Digital Collections. An important component of developing these repositories has been our marketing efforts. We will share how we worked together with Integrated Marketing, Printing Services, and the Library Outreach Committee to actively promote and advance the collections.

Student retention is critical to job security, but most importantly, we who work in academe are entrusted with our students’ dreams. A few years ago, I began investigating best practices in cataloging assessment. I started with a review of related literature to gather citations on the topic. As this work progressed, I found that researchers describe assessment, or pieces of assessment, using many different terms including evaluation, quality, workflow, cost, and production. They also write specifically about cataloging or broadly about technical services; of which cataloging or metadata is a part.

On June 17, 2014, Library Services at Minnesota State University, Mankato launched Cornerstone: A Collection of Scholarly and Creative Works, the new institutional repository for the University. Cornerstone showcases the intellectual output of Minnesota State University, Mankato's faculty, staff, and students by preserving their works digitally and presenting them to the world in an easy-to-find format. Launching Cornerstone did not just happen overnight. This session will talk about our process in launching the repository and our marketing campaign and how our progress has well exceeded our goals and expectations.
