Promoting government information can be challenging at times. Displays are good, and so are blogs. But Twitter is the future. It seems as though everyone is on Twitter. The White House, various members of Congress, the State Department, even the Department of Defense all have Twitter accounts. And those are just to name a few! Twitter is useful for depositories because it can be used to promote displays, handouts, blog entries, and more. To The Cloud! How To Compile Analyze Reference Statistics Easily And For Free, Sonnet Ireland, Faith Simmons

Keeping all statistics in one spreadsheet can get messy and confusing—and it leaves us vulnerable to losing our statistics in the event of technical difficulties. To organize and preserve the statistics, we copy data from Google Documents on a weekly basis into stable spreadsheets organized by month. To prevent the loss of data, we use cloud computing, saving them in a shared folder in Dropbox. We keep the original data in separate tabs, allowing us to calculate weekly and monthly totals by type of interaction, time of day, and day of the week.
