New African immigrant religious organizations (NAIRO) are transnational religious organizations established and led by new African immigrants (NAI). These organizations are experiencing planned growth as outlined in their manuals, but little is known about the internal conflicts that lead to unplanned schisms or break away congregations. Foundational studies in the field of Sociology of Religion failed to include NAI-led churches in their studies and Atlanta was not selected as an immigrant hub city in their follow-up studies. Scholarly literature on “global cities” has been criticized for ignoring the long-term historical context within which cities articulate the relationship between the global and the local. Employing a longue durée globalization perspective, this paper historicizes the unequal and uneven nature of contemporary urban development in Mumbai, India’s “global city.” The paper uses two analytical frames: the “port city” and the “colonial city” to highlight two essential dimensions of Mumbai’s contemporary transformation of interconnectedness and segmentation based on unequal power.

As Nigeria continues to grapple with the unprecedented rise in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), interventions for IDPs is now a humanitarian priority. This paper examines the social perceptions of IDPs, humanitarian responses bordering around building long term solutions, provision of specific needs for integration, voluntary return, fighting trauma, and economic isolation. It further recommends how responses should be better harmonized for sustained impact, with an ultimate goal to have IDPs return back home to normal or improved levels oflife - providing safety and security, sustained livelihoods, employment, housing and shelter, as against settling perpetually in camps.

Entrepreneurship education is a catalyst for the diminution of unemployment in Sierra Leone. The study evaluates the causal nexus between entrepreneurship education and self-employment initiatives among Fourah Bay College students. Using regression analysis, data collected were primary data through the administration of questionnaires and simple percentage ranking techniques were used to analyze the questionnaires. The result shows that entrepreneurship education is an important policy and it has positive effect on self-employment initiatives. The paper discusses the challenges associated with sustainable urban governance in Zimbabwe. Urban formality in Zimbabwe, while it has roots in the colonial period, intensified in the last decade of the 20th century with the adoption of Structural Adjustment Programs (SAPs) that sought to restructure the economy through massive cost cutting budgetary measures. It later exacerbated post-2000 with the decline of the formal economy which threw thousands into the informal economy. This article assesses how African states should regulate Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). In particular, it focuses on whether African states should employ or avoid performance requirements as mechanism of regulation of FDI. The imposition of performance requirements, also known as operational requirements, in IIAs remains controversial. Effect Of Know-What-Learn Strategy On Senior Secondary School Students' Academic Achievement In Reading Comprehension, Eke Eke Ogbu

This study investigated the effect of Know-What-Learn (KWL) on senior secondary school students' academic achievement in reading comprehension. The study adopted a quasi-experimental design - specifically a pretest posttest non-equivalent control group design. Two research questions and one hypothesis guided the study. The sample was made up of 80 students. The instruments for this study were 25 items multiple-choice reading comprehension achievement test. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the three research questions while ANCOVA was used to test the hypothesis at p < 0.05. The result revealed that students taught using KWL had a higher academic achievement gain score than those taught using lecture method. Based on the findings, some recommendations were made which include that English language teachers should be trained and versed on how best to develop and use KWL strategy so as to achieve their objectives of enhancing academic achievement in Reading comprehension.

Peacebuilding consists of a set of physical, social, and structural initiatives that are often an integral part of post-conflict reconstruction and rehabilitation. It actively works to promote a culture of peace, intercultural dialogue and non-violent conflict transformation.
