Passive Reconciliation/Healing Of The Aftermath Of Intractable Conflicts, Rafi Nets-Zehngut

Present research views the reconciliation process as the central method for addressing the destructive psychological aftermath of conflicts. This reconciliation process has an active aspect, as it comprises deliberate steps aimed at improving the relations between the conflicting parties (e.g., truth commissions, apology, or reparations). This paper proposes an additional process for addressing this aftermath, the passive healing one. In this latter process, the psychological fallout of conflict is addressed through cooperation for utilitarian purposes, without an aim to improve the relations between the parties. Peace Education In Societies Involved In Intractable Conflicts: Goals, Conditions And Directions, Rafi Nets-Zehngut

The present chapter examines the nature of peace education in societies that were involved, or are still involved in intractable conflict. First it will describe the nature of intractable conflict and the culture of conflict that evolves. Second it will describe the nature reconciliation that is needed in order to establish lasting and stable peace after conflict resolution. Third it will describe the nature of peace education. Then it will present the condition for it successful implementation. Fifth the chapter will describe two models of peace education. Sixth will outline its principles and finally will suggest a number of conclusions.

The paper discusses the strategic role of the PBC as a vital component in the attainment of the new peacebuilding vision and architecture and examines its potential implications for sustainable peace in Africa. Furthermore, it examines the various dimensions of peace-building strategies by evaluating what has been achieved so far. In reviewing the PBC’s peace-building approaches, analysis is undertaken to identify specific gaps in the current methods of operation.
