This report documents the National Register significance testing and data recovery investigations conducted from February 27-March 15, 2012 (testing), and June 11-25, 2012 (data recovery), at the site of 41HR1114 by Moore Archeological Consulting, Inc. The site is located just west of Lower Mayde Creek, in west Harris County, Texas. The site had been first located during a February, 2012 survey conducted by Moore Archeological Consulting, Inc. in preparation for a proposed extension of the Park Row Boulevard Right-of-Way (Moore and Driver 2012). Harris County is planning the Champions Drive Outfall project in the north central part of the county. The proposed outfall will replace existing outfalls in the south bank of Cypress Creek in a piece of land previously developed for the road between the creek and where the pavement ends at the northern terminus of Champions Drive. This area is approximately 100 meters long by 20 meters wide and consists of 0.48 acres. Halff Associates, Inc., which is handling the project’s environmental permitting, and contracted with AR Consultants, Inc. to conduct survey of the project area. In October 2017, Gray & Pape, Inc., of Houston, Texas, performed an intensive pedestrian cultural resources survey of approximately 13.8 hectares (34 acres) of land proposed for development in northeast Harris County, Texas. The Lead Federal Agency for this project has been identified as the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District.

The goals of the survey were to establish whether previously unidentified buried archaeological resources were located within or immediately adjacent to the project’s Area of Potential Effects and if so to provide management recommendations for such resources. An intensive archeological survey was completed in order to inventory and evaluate archeological resources within the footprint of proposed widening improvements to Farm-to-Market Road 2100 between Huffman-Cleveland Road and the proposed State Highway (SH) 99 (Grand Parkway) in eastern Harris County, Texas. The project is approximately 5.73 miles or 9.2 kilometers in length and has a typical width of between 150 to 220 feet or 45.7 to 67.0 meters. The APE is 147.37 acres or 83 hectares with 90.93 acres or 36.8 hectares of the total being new right-of-way. Typical roadway construction would occur within 2 feet or 0.6 meters, …

(Berg Oliver) on behalf of Harris County Water Control Improvement District (WCID) No. 36 to conduct a cultural resources inventory survey and assessment for the proposed development of a wastewater treatment facility on the approximately 2.6-hectare (6.6-acre) Haden Road tract in Cloverleaf, Harris County, Texas. The currently undeveloped tract is located southeast of the intersection of Interstate Highway (IH) 10 and Haden Road. An unnamed tributary of Greens Bayou bisects the tract east to west. The project involves a proposed expansion and improvements to an existing park facility in far east Harris County, Texas, which covers a total area of roughly 70 acres. The project area is bounded to the south by Highway 225, to the east by Cary Bayou, to the west by a railroad line and Cary Cedar Bayou Road.

In 2016, Gray & Pape, Inc., of Houston, Texas, performed a preliminary archaeological and historical desktop assessment of 22.2-kilometers (13.8 miles) proposed for the West Harris County Regional Water Authority, Second Source Transmission Line Project – Segment 3 Alignment, in Harris County, Texas. The conclusion of that study was that most of the project’s Area of Potential Effects occurred within areas that had previously been disturbed by the construction of roads, parking lots, and artificial drainages. The project area consisted of two polygon boundaries, Area A and Area B, located southwest of the San Jacinto Monument. Area A was further subdivided into three sections for ease of analysis.

On behalf of Design Workshop, Inc. and the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center (HANC), SWCA Environmental Consultants (SWCA) conducted an intensive archaeological survey of the proposed HANC improvements in Harris County, Texas. The portion of the HANC to be affected by the proposed improvements consists of an approximately 55-acre area (project area) located in the northern third of the overall 155-acre HANC. Archaeological investigations were conducted in compliance with the Antiquities Code of Texas under Antiquities Permit No. 7592 and with guidelines set forth by the Texas Historical Commission (THC).

Stone Point Services completed a cultural resources survey for a proposed 55-hectare (137-acre) county park in Cypress, Texas. The study area consists of an irregularly shaped former subdivision located southwest of Grant Road in Cypress, Texas. The project area is primarily wooded with mature oaks and pines mixed with a few ornamental trees and is bounded to the northwest by Cypress Creek. Field investigations were conducted between July 27 and July 28, 2017. Survey methods included a pedestrian archaeological survey with shovel testing. In total, 117 shovel tests were excavated within the survey area, representing one shovel test per 1.2-acres, …
