An Analysis Of The Effectiveness Of The Gacaca Court System In Post-Genocide Rwanda, Lauren Haberstock

This article discusses and examines the effectiveness of the Gacaca Court System that was put in place following the Rwandan genocide in 1994. A brief history of Rwanda reveals deeply rooted ethnic divisions between the Hutu and Tutsi people--a factor that would greatly impact pre-genocide and post-genocide Rwanda. Following the genocide, the Rwandan government and international community needed to find a way to deal with the crimes and atrocities committed during the genocide.
