Using Perceptual Maps For Career And College Counseling, Oscar T. Mcknight, Kerri Carmichael, Gregory Pollock
Oscar T McKnight Ph.D.
Perceptual mapping is a modeling technique used in business to visually display relationships and perceptions of customers. In business, perceptual maps are often called product positioning maps. Conceptually, perceptual maps foster a better and deeper understanding of products and services in terms of public perception or actual outcomes. In short, marketers attempt to position products, product line, and brand or company type relative to their competition or competency. For counselors, this process facilitates open and honest discussion relative to personal expectations and goals. The desire to create automatons is a familiar theme in human history, and during the age of the Enlightenment mechanical automatons became not only an “emblem of the cosmos”, but a symbol of man’s confidence that he would unlock nature’s greatest mysteries and fully harness her power. And yet only a century later, automatons had begun to represent human repression and servitude, a theme later picked up by writers of science fiction. Man’s confidence undeterred, the endgame of the modern scientific and technological mindset, or MSTM, seems to be increasingly coming into view with the rise of “information technology” in …

Modifying Gluten Free Food For Arabic Celiac Patients, Suad Fahad Alfuraih
Dr. Suad Fahad AlFuraih
Coping with Celiac Disease is so hard especially at the being months after been diagnosed. However, patients and families will easily get used to the challenge and live normally. As scientists, clinicians, moms, dads, nutritionists, teachers, dieticians, we often speak objectively, as in, this is the best thing for the whole world to do, yet we know that everyone is so very different--different in genetics, in environment, in habits--and we must look at the individual to determine what is truly best. According to a study will be shown in APPENDIX 1, done by Prof. Aljebreen and other Saudi colleagues at …

Now That You Have Created A Great Video, How Do You Know If Anyone Is Learning From It?, Claudia J. Dold
Claudia J. Dold
Video offers a wide range of benefits a useful teaching tool, and librarians are using it to make all kinds of information available. I have created two series of videos at my university library concerning library and research skills: one for undergraduates and the other for graduates. This past year, I undertook four studies to determine whether students use the videos and under what circumstances.

Starting From Scratch: Meaningful Integration Of Information Literacy Through Collaborative Course And Assignment Design, Chris Sweet, Meghan Burke
Christopher A. Sweet
Instruction librarians are all too familiar with well-intentioned research papers and assignments that reduce information literacy to a simplistic checklist (must include 4 peer-reviewed sources) or set of skills (use interlibrary loan, cite materials properly). Librarians and classroom faculty should recognize that information literacy cannot just be magically imparted to students through a single assignment or library instruction session. Becoming information literate requires repeated practice in a variety of contexts. How often have you wished for the opportunity to just sit down with a faculty member and start from scratch when designing an assignment –or even better- an entire course? …
