Gender-Based Pay Inequality In The Canadian Insurance Companies, Mostafa Shayangogani
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
AbstractThe problem in this study was gender-based pay inequality among women at Canadian insurance companies. The purpose of this hermeneutic phenomenological study was to understand gender-based pay inequality for women at Canadian insurance companies. Aigner's, Cain's, Arrow's, and Phelps' statistical discrimination theory guided the study. The theoretical foundation also included the human capital theory by Becker and Schultz. The research questions focused on understanding C-suite and V-level executives’ lived experiences of gender-based pay inequality and identifying effective strategies that should be adopted to overcome the problem at Canadian insurance companies. This study used purposeful sampling to recruit 15 C-suite and …

How Public Health Expenditure Affect Health Outcomes In Cameroon, Gilbert Njinju Ayimaleh
How Public Health Expenditure Affect Health Outcomes In Cameroon, Gilbert Njinju Ayimaleh
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Most African governments, and Cameroon in particular, have identified the reduction of infant mortality and life expectancy in Africa as a critical priority. The United Nations Millennium Development Goals set a target objective of reducing infant mortality by 60% from 1990 to 2015 in less-developed countries. Good health contributes significantly to the attainment of sustainable development and health outcomes. Despite Cameroon’s progress in achieving health-related Millennium Development Goals regarding reducing infant mortality and increasing life expectancy, the country is still worse in respect to health outcomes compared to other Sub-Saharan Countries like Nigeria and Ghana thus more need to be …
Logistics Leader Strategies For Retaining Employees, Sandra Northern
Logistics Leader Strategies For Retaining Employees, Sandra Northern
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Low employee retention can lead to a lack of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for sustainable logistics operations. Logistics leaders are concerned with employee retention because turnover increases business costs, reduces operational efficiency, and decreases profitability. Grounded in Herzberg’s two-factor theory, the purpose of this qualitative single case study was to explore strategies logistics leaders use to increase employee retention. The participants were three senior leaders from a logistics organization in the northeast region of the United States who possessed knowledge and experience of the research phenomena. Data were collected through semistructured interviews, company documents, publicly available data, and …

Strategies To Increase Emergency Department Patient Flow, Judith Faith Jones
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
AbstractOvercrowding in emergency departments (EDs) is a systemic issue, resulting in inefficiencies affecting patient care quality. Hospital leaders struggle with reducing bottlenecks in EDs and providing a better patient care experience. Grounded in the general systems theory, the purpose of this qualitative single case study was to explore strategies used to reduce inefficiencies in EDs. The participants included five directors, administrators, and clinical managers from a hospital ED in Idaho Falls, Idaho, who successfully used strategies to reduce inefficiencies in EDs. Data were analyzed from semistructured interviews and a review of organization documents and artifacts following Yin’s five-step data analysis …
Relationship Between Perceived Language Proficiency And Economic Life Satisfaction For Migrants, John Ndunduma
Relationship Between Perceived Language Proficiency And Economic Life Satisfaction For Migrants, John Ndunduma
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The United States needs migrant workers to fill the labor market gap because baby boomers are retiring from the US workforce in large numbers beginning in 2020. Approximately 2.1 million migrants came from Africa to fill the U.S. labor shortage. Many of these African migrants faced challenges with English language proficiency. There are benefits to the United States involved with increasing the economic wellbeing of migrants, such as reducing remigration, increasing the high-skilled labor force, and increasing cultural diversity. This study used Maslow’s motivational theory to test significant relationships between perceptions of English language proficiency (PELP) and economic life satisfaction …

Lived Experiences Of African American Women Encountering Barriers In Executive Level Advancement In The Business Services Industry, Sheriley Yvonne Smith
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
It is unknown how African American Women (AAW) perceived experiences involving the experience of the barriers faced when attempting to advance to executive levels in their corporate jobs. Existing literature showed that AAWs experienced several forms of discrimination, including racism, oppression, and limitations which were critical to examining their work experience and progressing up the corporate ladder. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to develop an understanding of lived experiences of AAWs when they apply for and fail to reach executive positions in the business services industry. The glass ceiling theory (GCT) and intersectionality theory (IT) were used …
