The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of one-on-one mentoring program on the academic, social, psychological, and career needs of newly arrived refugees in the United States. Specifically, the research was concerned with the separated and combined effects of the variables gender and age on the academic, social, career, and psychological needs of mentored newly arrived refugees in the United States. The sample consisted of 50 refugee youth from two serving agencies located in the southern region of the United States. Judgmental sampling was utilized to select the population sample. Journal of Counseling Research and Practice
This article is a content analysis of peer-reviewed journal publications exploring interpreter-mediated counseling over the last ten years. The intention of the analysis was to identify trends in publication regarding this topic and gaps for future research. After an exhaustive search, 70 articles were identified and seven were specifically focused on refugees and asylum seekers. Themes of the publishing trends were identified and recommendations for the counseling field are presented.
