This article examines the depiction of intolerance in Irish film just before and during the Celtic Tiger period itself, usually associated with the years 1995–2007. In particular, the paper is concerned with exploring how Irish filmmakers sought to identify the roots of contemporary racism through an exploration of intolerance in Ireland’s past and towards long-resident minorities within Irish society, including the Traveller community and homosexuals.
