This investigation sheds light on the teaching practices of Queens College (QC) faculty in Business. It identifies the Business faculty’s teaching support needs in order to develop ideas for improving Library services to them. This report is the result of research conducted under the guidance of Ithaka S+R, and in accordance with Office of Regulatory Compliance procedures at QC. Using a grounded theory approach to qualitative research, the investigators conducted in-person audio-recorded semi-structured interviews of seven full-time QC faculty who teach Business courses. At the Portland State University (PSU) Library, we value diversity, equity, and inclusion and have demonstrated this commitment by design with the new, responsive Primo. Designing the new Primo for ease of use for discovery and delivery for 30,000 students was the tantamount motivation for our new Primo launch, fall term 2016. This poster reports on a study that investigated:

a. The impact of students’ use of technology for extracurricular purposes during instruction sessions and its effects on their learning and retention of information.

b. Whether attendance at a previous library instruction session provided the students with the advantage of scoring higher in the assessment, and

c. Whether the use of these technologies in class sessions was disruptive to other students.
