The mark of a valuable collaboration is that neither party can successfully achieve the outcome without the other. Cross-library or cross- organisation collaboration allows libraries to respond to complex new opportunities and challenges. Bringing together diverse knowledge and skills sets, collaborations can deliver projects more effectively by drawing on existing knowledge assets. In September 2013 UNSW Library launched a new system, known as ROS, to manage information about the research outputs produced at UNSW. Supporting Interaction And Collaboration In The Language Classroom Through Computer Mediated Communication, Mariolina Pais Marden, Jan Herrington

This paper describes the design and implementation of a technology supported learning environment that enabled interaction and collaboration between a group of sixteen intermediate and advanced level university students of Italian and a group of seven Italian native speaker facilitators. For one semester students and facilitators worked together to complete two authentic tasks and interacted with each other through the communication tools and resources of an online learning management system. These resources included both asynchronous and synchronous communication tools such as an online threaded class discussion forum, a group discussion forum, chat and email. Academic and industry collaboration is increasingly identified as a critical element in the future health of Australians through linking theory and practice, with the major priority for academic institutions being the identification of new knowledge and the transfer of this knowledge into changes in policy and health services. Collaborations between academia and industry are increasingly encouraged in Australia by research funding schemes such as ARCLinkage and, more recently, NHMRC Partnerships. This paper derives from collaborative research undertaken by staff at theWoolyungah Indigenous Centre, into our own teaching practice. It articulates a particular strand of inquiry emanating from the research: the importance of Indigenous knowledges as this is taught at Woolyungah in the discipline of Indigenous Studies. Collaboration is marked by indeterminacy. It is, by nature, intermediary, interposing, intervening. In Australia, collaboration between Aboriginal and invader/settler subjects in the unfolding of colonial engagement is a topic that has received limited scholarly attention. Some studies have dealt with native police and Black trackers; others have examined local negotiations of power and discourse; but the only broad survey of collaboration is Henry Reynolds's With the White People (1990).
