The Affordable Care Act allocated $250 million in 2010 for disease prevention via four critical priorities, including Public Health Training and Research & Tracking. Public health educators in academia have an opportunity to reexamine and reconstruct educative preparations for public health workers to adequately identify and address the environmental, social, and behavioral issues that impact health across the life span. Public health professionals are obligated to consider the larger political, social, and economic implications forces surrounding their work to affect the largest possible positive outcomes in communities ' health. Ce travail porte sur la fasciathérapie appliquée aux douleurs de la fibromyalgie, et tente de répondre à la question « quels sont les effets de la fasciathérapie sur la douleur et ses consé- quences, ainsi que sur le vécu des patients qui souffrent de fibromyalgie ? » Pour cela, j’ai présenté le champ théorique des douleurs chroniques et du syndrome fibromyalgique, ainsi que celui des thérapies s’adressant aux fascias et notamment la fasciathérapie méthode Danis Bois. The term ‘towards bicultural competence’ in the title of my doctoral thesis: Towards Bicultural Competence: Researching for Personal and Professional Transformations refers to my desire to become competent in negotiating the two cultures (British and African Caribbean) of my dual heritage. The lack of competence which is implied in the title has been a major problem in my personal and professional life and was therefore an important insight thrown up by my research efforts.
