Study On P-Wave Velocity And Mechanical Response Characteristic Of Rock In Coal Seam Roof With Supercritical Co2 Injection, Chen Chen, He Xingyi, Niu Qinghe, Yu Hongxu, Xie Xiangyu

Coal Geology & Exploration

Deep coal seam CO2 geological sequestration and enhanced CH4 recovery(CO2-ECBM) can both increase CBM recovery and achieve carbon emission reduction, possessing dual benefits of energy and environment. The geochemical reactions between supercritical CO2(ScCO2), water and coal seam roof can change its physical-mechanical properties and increase the risk of CO2 leakage. In this paper, taking the roof rock of No.3 coal seam in Hudi Mine from Qinshui Basin as the research area, the ScCO2-water-rock geochemical reaction simulation experiment was carried out to explore the geochemical reaction process of ScCO2 …

Development Of Water Meter For Secure Communication In The Advanced Metering Infrastructure, Sugwon Hong, Hyung Mo Park Aug 2014

Development Of Water Meter For Secure Communication In The Advanced Metering Infrastructure, Sugwon Hong, Hyung Mo Park

International Conference on Hydroinformatics

The Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) is one of the integral components of the smart water grid where water consumption data is collected, stored, and transferred to the utility Meter Data Management System (MDMS). The organizations which are directly involved in promoting and developing the Smart Water Grid have tried to figure out the operating scenarios in the overall domain from the smart meters up to MDMS, and logical/physical components that should be expected to exist to perform those operations in the full extent. One of the daunting tasks in realizing the services in the AMI is the security issue. Unlike …

Impacts Of U.S. Biofuels Mandates On Environmental And Energy Security, Mohammad Alshawaf Dec 2013

Impacts Of U.S. Biofuels Mandates On Environmental And Energy Security, Mohammad Alshawaf

Graduate Doctoral Dissertations

Congress passed the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007 to reduce dependency on foreign oil by increasing the use of biofuels. EISA mandates 36 billion gallons of biofuel production in 2022, representing an increase of 118% in eight years. Existing and new farmland are expected to be employed to produce corn and other feedstock necessary to fulfill the biofuel mandate. There is little research on the potential environmental impact on water resources of meeting the ESIA biofuel mandates.

The objectives of this EISA study were twofold. First, the study measured the …

Developments In The Global Energy Markets And Constructing The Future Of The Persian Gulf Security, Nihat Cengel Aug 2012

Developments In The Global Energy Markets And Constructing The Future Of The Persian Gulf Security, Nihat Cengel

Graduate Program in International Studies Theses & Dissertations

This study analyses the global energy projections and regional dynamics in the Persian Gulf. It is shown that the future projections in the world energy markets signify the importance of cooperation between developed and developing countries. It is also suggested that connected to the global economic crises and the regional demand change in the energy market, there is a growing need for international support to the Persian Gulf security.

I argue that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) could play a crucial role for eliminating political conflicts and maintaining the regional stability. As a result, collective arm transfer to the region, …

Oil. Changing Geopolitics Of Oil In Asia & The Usa, Jay Hein, John Clark, Robert Ebel, Dong Hyung Cha, Richard Lotspeich

New England Journal of Public Policy

One of the most important responsibilities the United States assumed following World War II was ensuring the stable flow of relatively inexpensive oil to the industrialized and industrializing countries of the world. A glance at a list of the top petroleum exporting countries shows that most of them are poor, have despotic governments, and experience frequent bouts of political instability and ideological extremism.

Trends. Some Security Lessons From Kyoto, Ibpp Editor

International Bulletin of Political Psychology

The author discusses how "the environment" is no longer a fringe Issue championed by starry-eyed dreamers and psychodynamic deviants, and perennial misfits who have little understanding of or orientation to reality. In fact, the relevance of "the environment" for policies of political security has become quite significant.
