Investigation Of The Dehydration Of Ulexite Ore With Different Parameters And Modeling With Artificial Neural Network (Ann) Method, Mustafa Engi̇n Kocadaği̇stan

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Study experiments were conducted considering the temperature, time, and sample weight parameters in order to model the dehydration by applying dehydration processes to ulexite ores. Data obtained from the dehydration processes of ulexite ore were compared with TG analyzes. It was observed as the result of the heat treatment that the fastest water removal was provided in the temperature range of 150-250 °C and it was very low in the range of 400-750 °C. In order to design the ANN method, 4 different models were proposed with the same parameters in the dehydration experiments and the network structure was determined. …

Long-Term Spatiotemporal Evolution Of Land Subsidence In Konya Metropolitan Area (Turkey) Based On Multisensor Sar Data, Nurdan Şi̇reci̇, Gökhan Aslan, Zi̇yadi̇n Çakir

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

We have studied the spatiotemporal evolution of surface deformation in Konya city and its vicinity using advanced multitemporal synthetic aperture radar techniques with SAR data acquired by Envisat, ALOS-1, and Sentinel-1 A/B satellites between 2004 and 2020. Velocity maps and time series show that the city has been subsiding with varying rates in space and time since 2004. The pattern of deformation shows two main lobes of subsidence centered in the western and eastern sides of the city with a nondeforming north-south trending narrow zone in between. Subsidence rate increases from a few cm/yr to 11 cm/yr between 2014 and …

Detailed Modeling Of A Thermoelectric Generator For Maximum Power Point Tracking, Hayati̇ Mamur, Yusuf Çoban Jan 2020

Detailed Modeling Of A Thermoelectric Generator For Maximum Power Point Tracking, Hayati̇ Mamur, Yusuf Çoban

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Thermoelectric generators (TEGs) are used in small power applications to generate electrical energy from waste heats. Maximum power is obtained when the connected load to the ends of TEGs matches their internal resistance. However, impedance matching cannot always be ensured. Therefore, TEGs operate at lower efficiency. For this reason, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms are utilized. In this study, both TEGs and a boost converter with MPPT were modeled together. Detailed modeling, simulation, and verification of TEGs depending on the Seebeck coefficient, the hot/cold side temperatures, and the number of modules in MATLAB/Simulink were carried out. In addition, a …

Glucose Oxidase Immobilized Biofuel Cell Flow Channel Geometry Analysis By Cfd Simulations, Sali̇h Obut, Tahsi̇n Bahar

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Glucose oxidase was covalently immobilized to a porous electrode, which was developed by using ferrocene functionalized polyethyleneimine, multiwall carbon nanotubes, and carbon cloth for biofuel cell applications in our recent studies. The kinetics parameters (i.e. k$_{M}$, V$_{max})$ and other parameters required for the modeling study were determined experimentally. Fuel cell flow channel geometry was analyzed by a computational fluid dynamics modeling approach. Substrate flow rate and mass transfer for each proposed channel type were considered in the simulations. The results showed that serpentine type flow channels are advantageous over pin type or parallel flow channels to acquire sufficient performance from …

Research On Power-Frequency Electromagnetic Interference Model Of Multicore Twisted Signal Cable Of High-Speed Railway, Bowen Zhang, Jiangjian Xie, Zhixin Wang, Jin Yang, Hao Yan

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

With the increase in the traction power of high-speed railways, the power-frequency electromagnetic interference of traction current to the signal cables becomes increasingly more severe. In this paper, the calculation model of the magnetic interference to signal cable was established on the MATLAB/Simulink platform based on the multiconductor transmission line theory. This model took SPTYWPL03-8B 8-core twist signal cable as an example and the power-frequency interference of external current to the signal cable was analyzed theoretically. In addition, experiments on electromagnetic interference of double-ended and single-ended signal cables were performed to validate the simulation model. Experiments showed that the relative …

Rlgc(F) Modeling Of A Busbar Distribution System Via Measured S-Parameters Atcenelec And Fcc Bands, Zeynep Hasirci, İsmai̇l Hakki Çavdar, Mehmet Öztürk

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

This paper addresses the extraction of accurate frequency-dependent per-unit-length RLGC parameters for busbar distribution systems using measured S-parameters for the CENELEC and FCC bands. A busbar is a distribution system element (three phase, low voltage) with a modular structure that carries electrical energy in buildings. The S-parameters of a busbar distribution system at different current levels (630 A, 1250 A, 2000 A) are measured with a vector network analyzer and then analyzed for three different two-port connections (L1-N, L2-N, L3-N). A frequency- dependent RLGC(f) model is used to characterize the busbar as a transmission line using a derivative-free optimization algorithm. …

A New Semianalytical Method For Analysis Of The Disc-Type Permanent Magnethysteresis Motor In Steady-State Operational Conditions, Ali Behniafar, Ahmad Darabi Jan 2018

A New Semianalytical Method For Analysis Of The Disc-Type Permanent Magnethysteresis Motor In Steady-State Operational Conditions, Ali Behniafar, Ahmad Darabi

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Considering the characteristics of hysteresis and permanent magnet motors, it seems that these two motors are complements of each other. Thus, their combination yields a motor with an excellent performance. In order to preserve the major advantages of both motors in the new motor, a disc-type slotless structure is chosen. This paper presents a new finite-element method for the modeling of disc-type permanent magnet hysteresis synchronous (PMHS) motor. In this modeling method a new iterative algorithm is used. Programming software has been linked to finite- element software because of its limitation in the modeling of hysteresis phenomena. Validity of the …

Stability Assessment Of Isolated Six-Phase Induction Generator Feeding Static Loads, Kiran Singh, Girish Kumar Singh Jan 2016

Stability Assessment Of Isolated Six-Phase Induction Generator Feeding Static Loads, Kiran Singh, Girish Kumar Singh

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

This paper presents the stability analysis of a six-phase self-excited induction generator (SP-SEIG) based on the eigenvalue stability criteria for its linearized model. This demonstrates the small signal stability behavior during steady-state operating conditions. The eigenvalue approach also establishes an opportunity to correlate eigenvalues with machine parameters. The investigation in this paper reveals that the eigenvalues are dependent upon the machine parameters, and the most critical parameter is the variation in magnetizing inductance (L$_{m})$. The eigenvalues are varied in accordance with the machine variables and give focus to the stabilization of the SP-SEIG. A particular voltage build-up phenomenon is also …

modeling and a rotor field-oriented control (RFOC) system for controlling a faulty three-phase induction motor (three-phase IM when one of the phases is disconnected). In the adapted scheme for controlling the faulty IM, it is necessary for the PI controller coefficients to change. For this purpose, the gravitational search algorithm (GSA) is used for tuning of PI controllers. The results show the strength and ability of the technique to improve the performance of the faulty IM control.

Adaptive Network-Based Inference System Models On Multiband Patch Antenna Design, Erdem Demi̇rci̇oğlu, Murat Hüsnü Sazli, Orhan Şengül, Şehabeddi̇n Taha İmeci̇, Hakki Alparslan Ilgin

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

In this study, an adaptive network-based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) for multiband microstrip patch antenna (MMPA) modeling is proposed. The MMPA includes a single patch with inverted L-shaped stubs on the edges. The antenna production process needs iterative runs of the electromagnetic (EM) simulator, fabricating and testing the simulated antenna to find the optimum geometry. Production processes (design, simulation, fabrication, and testing) and the cost computation time add to the overall manufacturing expenses. A computer-aided modeling approach using the ANFIS is developed and trained with data acquired from the EM simulators, Sonnet Suites and AWR AXIEM, and measurement data. The …

Design Of A Double-Stator Linear Switched Reluctance Motor For Shunting Railway Channels, El Manaa Barhoumi, Mansour Hajji, Boujemaa Ben Salah

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

This paper presents the design and modeling of a double-stator linear switched reluctance motor for motorizing a railway channels' shunting system. The magnetic behavior of this actuator is nonlinear due to the saturation and nonlinear magnetization curves of the materials used in this actuator. For this reason, the electromagnetic quantities such as force, flux linkage, and inductance are calculated with the finite element method using the Maxwell tool. The obtained results are presented and discussed. In order to elaborate some control strategies, a new model for the proposed actuator, based on the flux and force characteristics, is validated by the …

Investigation Of Fault-Related Small-Scale Fluid Flow In Geothermal Fields By Numerical Modeling, Doğa Doğan Jan 2014

Investigation Of Fault-Related Small-Scale Fluid Flow In Geothermal Fields By Numerical Modeling, Doğa Doğan

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

In this paper, hydrothermal circulations and temperature distributions in geothermal areas with fault zones are investigated. It is shown that existence of the fault zones influences both the fluid circulation patterns and velocities. Reciprocal influence of the local fluid circulations and the temperature distribution is demonstrated. A 2-dimensional square porous layer is used for modeling the geothermal field. Faults are modeled as vertical porous layers. It is assumed that faults are located inside the geothermal field and have a higher permeability than the field itself. Anisotropic and isotropic models are used to simulate the permeability structure of the faults. Several …

Foster Impedance Data Modeling Via Singly Terminated Lc Ladder Networks, Meti̇n Şengül

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

In this work, a lossless model is developed for the given Foster impedance data. In the model, a 2-port short- or open-terminated LC ladder is used. After applying the proposed algorithm, a realizable driving-point reactance function that fits the given data is obtained. Next, this function is synthesized, resulting in the desired model. In the algorithm, there is no need to select a circuit topology for the model. Two examples are given to illustrate the utilization of the proposed modeling algorithm.

Being able to behave electrically similar to photovoltaic (PV) panels, PV emulator systems make it possible to perform different PV system tests under various operation conditions. In this paper, a model of a PV panel emulator is presented using the Power System Blockset under MATLAB-Simulink. The simulation of the emulator system is developed for testing a controller prior to a real-time implementation. The model can handle the dependence of all of the parameters in the model with respect to solar radiation and temperature. The simulation results show that the output characteristics of the simulator have good agreement with those of …

A Simple Method To Extract The Parameters Of The Single-Diode Model Of A Pv System, Ahmed A. El Tayyan Jan 2013

A Simple Method To Extract The Parameters Of The Single-Diode Model Of A Pv System, Ahmed A. El Tayyan

Turkish Journal of Physics

This article suggests a simple method of modeling and simulation of photovoltaic systems. The main goal is to find the parameters (I_{ph}, I_o, R_s, R_{sh}, and a) of the single-diode model by adjusting the P-V curve and/or I-V curve at parameters provided by the manufacturer specification sheets (I_{sc}, V_{oc}, I_{mp}, and V_{mp}). An empirical model is incorporated into the single-diode model in order to remove its implicit nature and to ease the calculations. Calculations using this method can be extended to generate the I-V curves at temperatures and irradiances other than the standard test condition (STC)

Modeling Of Taqi Endonuclease Purification By Hplc, Mehmet Düzenli̇, Kutlu Ö. Ülgen Jan 2002

Modeling Of Taqi Endonuclease Purification By Hplc, Mehmet Düzenli̇, Kutlu Ö. Ülgen

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The present work is based on the previously reported purification study of TaqI endonuclease^{5} and aimed to simulate the experimentally obtained chromatograms in order to reduce the time and cost in the design, optimization and scaling up of purification processes. Three different models depending on equilibrium, rate and plate theories are used in the mathematical description of experimental elution profiles and the solutions of the model equations are compared. The equilibrium-dispersive theory provides excellent results in predicting the experimental chromatograms. It is thus recognized that band dispersion takes place in the column through axial dispersion and nonequilibrium effects. The user-friendly …

Extraction Equilibria Of Nicotinic Acid Using Alamine 300/Diluent And Conventional Solvent Systems, Aynur Şenol

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The distribution of nicotinic acid between water and Alamine 300 (tri-n-octylamine) dissolved in various (proton-donating and -accepting, polar and nonpolar) diluents, and a comparison with the extraction equilibria of pure diluent alone were studied at 298 K and a phase ratio of 1:1 (v/v). The cyclic alcohol/amine system yielded the highest synergistic extraction efficiency. The strength of the complex solvation was found to be reasonably high for halogenated aliphatic hydrocarbons and nitrobenzene, activating mainly the formation of the acid_{1}-amine_{1} structure. The influence of the acid structure over distribution was evaluated through comparing the extractabilities of three acids containing different functional …
