High-momentum configurations of nucleon pairs at short-distance are probed using measurements of the C-12(e, e' p) and C-12(e, e' pN) reactions (where N is either n or p), at high-Q(2) and x(B) > 1.1. The data span a missing-momentum range of 300-1000 MeV/c and are predominantly sensitive to the transition region of the strong nuclear interaction from a Tensor to Scalar interaction. The data are well reproduced by theoretical calculations using the Generalized Contact Formalism with both chiral and phenomenological nucleon-nucleon (NN) interaction models. This agreement suggests that the measured high missing-momentum protons up to 1000 MeV/c predominantly belong to short-ranged …

Object Manipulation With Modular Planar Tensegrity Robots, Maxine Perroni-Scharf Jun 2021

Object Manipulation With Modular Planar Tensegrity Robots, Maxine Perroni-Scharf

Dartmouth College Undergraduate Theses

This thesis explores the creation of a novel two-dimensional tensegrity-based mod- ular system. When individual planar modules are linked together, they form a larger tensegrity robot that can be used to achieve non-prehensile manipulation. The first half of this dissertation focuses on the study of preexisting types of tensegrity mod- ules and proposes different possible structures and arrangements of modules. The second half describes the construction and actuation of a modular 2D robot com- posed of planar three-bar tensegrity structures. We conclude that tensegrity modules are suitably adapted to object manipulation and propose a future extension of the modular 2D …

Automating Text Encapsulation Using Deep Learning, Anket Sah May 2021

Automating Text Encapsulation Using Deep Learning, Anket Sah

Master's Projects

Data is an important aspect in any form be it communication, reviews, news articles, social media data, machine or real-time data. With the emergence of Covid-19, a pandemic seen like no other in recent times, information is being poured in from all directions on the internet. At times it is overwhelming to determine which data to read and follow. Another crucial aspect is separating factual data from distorted data that is being circulated widely. The title or short description of this data can play a key role. Many times, these descriptions can deceive a user with unwanted information. The user …

Mathematical Modeling Of The Functioning Of A Hydrodynamic System With Distributed Parameters, Olim Suvonov, Elmira Nazirova May 2021

Mathematical Modeling Of The Functioning Of A Hydrodynamic System With Distributed Parameters, Olim Suvonov, Elmira Nazirova

Bulletin of TUIT: Management and Communication Technologies

The work examines the process of functioning of the hydrodynamic system "reservoir-well" taking into account the dynamic process of shutting down and starting a group of production wells. A mathematical model for determining system states, an algorithm for solving an applied problem and the results of computational experiments in the form of graphs are given.

Bulletin of TUIT: Management and Communication Technologies

Stages of computing experiment of the developed algorithm by means of the final and differential scheme for the solution of applied problems of optimum control of the processes described by the solutions of elliptic type are given n article.

Cyclodextrin-Active Natural Compounds In Food Applications: A Review Of Antibacterial, Bingren Tian, Yumei Liu Jan 2021

Cyclodextrin-Active Natural Compounds In Food Applications: A Review Of Antibacterial, Bingren Tian, Yumei Liu

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Many natural compounds have excellent activity against different bacteria. However, their food use to inhibit the bacteria is often limited by poor water solubility, or instability to light, heat, oxygen, and other environmental factors. Cyclodextrin combines with these natural compounds could not only overcome these shortcomings, but also increase the antibacterial ability of active compounds. This review focuses on the following aspects of active natural compounds in cyclodextrin-based food: the preparation, food applications, and their possible antibacterial mechanisms of different systems. Both cyclodextrin and its derivatives are able to selectively combine with different guest molecules, such as terpenes, phenols and …

Existence Of Nonnegative Solutions For Discrete Robin Boundary Value Problems With Sign-Changing Weight, Yan Zhu Jan 2021

Existence Of Nonnegative Solutions For Discrete Robin Boundary Value Problems With Sign-Changing Weight, Yan Zhu

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this paper,~we are concerned with the following discrete problem first $$\left\{ \begin{array}{ll} -\Delta^{2}u(t-1)=\lambda p(t)f(u(t)), &t\in[1,N-1]_{\mathbb{Z}},\\ \Delta u(0)=u(N)=0,\\ \end{array} \right. $$ where $N>2$~is an integer,~$\lambda>0$~is a parameter,~$p:[1,N-1]_{\mathbb{Z}}\rightarrow\mathbb{R}$~is a sign-changing function,~$f:[0,+\infty)\rightarrow[0,+\infty)$~is a continuous and nondecreasing function.~$\Delta u(t)=u(t+1)-u(t)$,~$\Delta^{2}u(t)=\Delta(\Delta u(t))$.~By using the iterative method and Schauder's fixed point theorem,~we will show the existence of nonnegative solutions to the above problem. Furthermore, we obtain the existence of nonnegative solutions for discrete Robin systems with indefinite weights.

In this study, a system for real-time face recognition was built using the Open Face tools of the Open CV library. The article describes the methodology for creating the system and the results of its testing. The Open CV library has various modules that perform many tasks. In this paper, Open CV modules were used for face recognition in images and face identification in real time. In addition, the HOG method was used to detect a person by the front of his face. After performing the HOG method, 128 face measurements were obtained using the image encoding method. A convolutional …
