Understanding The Relationships Among Students' Goal Orientations, Self-Efficacy, Anxiety, And Accelerated Academic Success In The Redesign Of Developmental Mathematics, Kelly Ann Hogan

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The low success rates of increasing numbers of underprepared students taking developmental mathematics classes 'often minority and economically disadvantaged' are challenging community colleges across the United States. These students, who must start in the lowest levels of precollege mathematics courses, are unlikely to pass the first course and earn a credential. Using a mastery goal orientation theoretical framework, a quantitative, survey research design was used to ascertain any correlations between students' goal orientations, self-efficacy, test anxiety, and success in a new model of learning. Survey data were used to answer 3 research questions: (a) the relationship between success and students' …

Pulse And Orbital Periods Of Asas182612, Ariel F. Lusty Jan 2016

Pulse And Orbital Periods Of Asas182612, Ariel F. Lusty

All College Thesis Program, 2016-2019

Physicists S.V. Antipin, K.V. Sokolovsky, and T.I. Ignatieva began observations of the variable star ASAS182612 in 2005, and found it to be the first known eclipsing binary with a type II Cepheid component in our galaxy. A month after Antipin’s publication, the American Association of Variable Star Observers (AAVSO) sent out an alert to campaign for observations of ASAS182612. From July 2007 to November 2015, 147 nights of multi-filter photometric data have been collected for ASAS182162. The pulsation period found was 4.1591 ± 0.0001 days and the orbital period 51.352 ± 0.016 days.

In this thesis, we have designed and developed a motion tracking and visualization system using the latest motion tracking sensory technologies. It is one of the enabling technologies for our novel visual-inertial odometer and human anatomy based 3D Locating, Mapping and Navigation system for endoscopy and drug delivery capsules used inside GI tract. In particular, we have: i) designed and completed a cloud-based sensory data collecting, processing and storage system to provide the reliable computing and storage platform; ii) explored different data processing methods to obtain improved-quality motion results from extremely noisy raw data, e.g., by using a low pass …
