A Theoretical Formulation Of The Hammett Equation, Gordon A. Gallup, W.R. Gilkerson, M.M. Jones
A Theoretical Formulation Of The Hammett Equation, Gordon A. Gallup, W.R. Gilkerson, M.M. Jones
Gordon Gallup Publications
A relation, which reduces to the form of Hammett's equation, has been derived. Reactions which can be assumed to be of the form ion-dipole or dipole-dipole have been considered. The logarithms of the ratios of rate constants were calculated and compared with experimental values in the form of Hammett's equation constants.

Pleistocene Evolution Of The Ohio And Wabash Valleys, William J. Wayne
Pleistocene Evolution Of The Ohio And Wabash Valleys, William J. Wayne
Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences: Faculty Publications
Studies of drift thickness and character currently in progress in Indiana indicate changes in drainage that have occurred in Indiana and some adjoining states since the beginning of the Pleistocene epoch. After late Tertiary (Lexington) peneplanation the master-drainage line, the Mahomet-Teays Valley system, became entrenched about 200 feet below its former level before it was ponded by Nebraskan ice and diverted into a new course. During the Parker cycle, which was interrupted by glaciation, the present physiographic features of southern Indiana and their now buried extensions to the north became recognizable. Static rejuvenation then was a major factor in erosion …

This report and any related files are made available to the online through the Lester F. Larsen Tractor Test and Power Museum as resources allow. Established in 1998, this museum is located on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln East Campus. It is and appropriately housed within the walls of the historic 1920 Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory, where the first tractor test was started on March 31st, 1920. Because the pioneer tests became worldwide standards, this location was designated as a Historic Landmark of Agricultural Engineering by the American Society of Agricultural Engineers in 1980, shortly after testing was moved to a …

EXPLANATION OF TEST REPORT: John Deere 50 TEST A: The manufacturer's representative operates the tractor for a minimum of 12 hours using light to heavy drawbar loads in each gear. This serves as a period for limber up, general observation and adjustments. Adjustments that are permissible include valve tappet clearance, breaker ,point gap, spark plug gaps, clutch and others of a similar nature. No new parts or accessories can be installed without having mention made of it in the report. No data' are recorded during this preliminary run except the time that the engine is operated. Internal Fissuring Of Wheat Due To Weathering, Max Milner, J. A. Shellenberger, M. R. Lee, Robert Katz
Internal Fissuring Of Wheat Due To Weathering, Max Milner, J. A. Shellenberger, M. R. Lee, Robert Katz
Robert Katz Publications
Radiographic technique developed at this Station for the determination of internal or hidden insect infestation in stored grain has proved to be useful for the detection of other physical anomalies in grains. Practical applications of this sort include the detection of cracked or broken kernels in rough rice (paddy) prior to milling as well as the extent of internal fracturing of certain grains such as maize due to uneven stresses arising from severe drying conditions. This communication deals with a condition of internal fissuring occurring in wheat due to weathering of the ripened grain in the field.

Hydrogen Bond Energies In Carboxylic Acids, M.M. Jones, W.R. Gilkerson, Gordon A. Gallup
Gordon Gallup Publications
A question of interest to the study of the chemisorption of carbon monoxide on iron is whether the carbon is desorbed with the same oxygen to which it was bonded prior to the adsorption. A mixture of C13O and CO18 in the desorbed gas in amounts greater than expected from normal abundance ratios shows that an intermolecular oxygen exchange occurs.

The Teaching Of Science, Sherwin Maeser
The Teaching Of Science, Sherwin Maeser
Faculty Honor Lectures
Like to teach! Whether with the expectant, half-frightened freshman, the senior, worried about his preparation now that . he must get out and meet competition, or the graduate student interested in new discoveries, I like to work with all of them.
I have been teaching a long time now. As has always been the case when one generation is thinking of turning over its work to the next, I am glad to have the opportunity to talk about some of the things that I consider important in this job of teaching.
The most varied and the most acute problems of …
