Evaluation Of Fluvial Package Amalgamation In Medial Dfs Deposits, Angel Peak Area, Nacimineto Formation, Sarah R. Rysanek Apr 2023

Evaluation Of Fluvial Package Amalgamation In Medial Dfs Deposits, Angel Peak Area, Nacimineto Formation, Sarah R. Rysanek

Earth and Planetary Sciences ETDs

Fluvial packages are the hypothetical groupings of facies that make up the fluvial succession consisting of channel belt sandstones and associated levee, floodplain, and avulsion deposits. This study attempted to describe a single fluvial package laterally using the new technologies of UAV imaging and 3D photogrammetry; however, amalgamation of channel belts and erosion from this amalgamation made long-distance lateral correlation difficult. This analysis of medial deposits in the Nacimiento Formation in the Angel Peak Area, Northwestern New Mexico evaluates the degree of amalgamation of fluvial packages across the study area while identifying facies associated with the hypothetical fluvial package. This …

Interpreting Amalgamation Processes Of A Fluvial Sandstone Of The Nacimiento Formation In The San Juan Basin, New Mexico, Keely Elizabeth Miltenberger Dec 2019

Interpreting Amalgamation Processes Of A Fluvial Sandstone Of The Nacimiento Formation In The San Juan Basin, New Mexico, Keely Elizabeth Miltenberger

Earth and Planetary Sciences ETDs

Outcrop studies of fluvial sand bodies are important for the study of fluid transport and storage capabilities because the deposits are heterogeneous. 3-D photogrammetry was used to evaluate the amalgamation processes of a multi-storey sheet sandstone in the San Juan Basin, NM. The Angel Peak member was deposited in the proximal-medial transition of a distributive fluvial system by a meandering river during the Paleocene. Within the study area, amalgamation occurred by avulsion and reoccupation of channel-belts to produce five storeys of the multi-storey sheet sandstone. Within each storey is evidence of processes that are internal to a channel-belt, such as …

Records Of Wells Drilled For Oil And Gas In New Mexico, George H. Dixon May 1954

Records Of Wells Drilled For Oil And Gas In New Mexico, George H. Dixon

Earth and Planetary Sciences ETDs

This report contains information compiled from data in the files of the U.S. Geological Survey, the New Mexico Bureau of Mines and Mineral Resources, and oil and gas companies on nearly 3,000 of the more than 13,000 wells drills in New Mexico prior to September 1, 1953. The tabulation is believed to include all unsuccessful wildcat test wells, most of the unsuccessful field extension wells, and most of the discovery wells for the various producing areas, even though they may be shut or abandoned at the present time. In addition, the list contains some deep tests and some wells representative …

Correlation Between Electric And Lithologic Characteristics In Four Wells In San Juan County, New Mexico, Edward C. Beaumont Jun 1948

Correlation Between Electric And Lithologic Characteristics In Four Wells In San Juan County, New Mexico, Edward C. Beaumont

Earth and Planetary Sciences ETDs

The primary objective of the problem is to relate electric characteristics to lithologic characteristics in four wells in San Juan County, New Mexico. The secondary objective is to decipher stratigraphic correlations between wells. The wells, in San Juan County, are geologically located in the San Juan Basin, a structural basin in the Colorado Plateau. The formations range in age from Paleozoic Cambrian (?) to Cenozoic Recent. The boundaries of the Basin are ill-defined and have shifted throughout the history of the area.
