The National Park Service (NPS) proposes to rehabilitate the failing sewage system within Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah. The rehabilitation would provide a safe, healthy, and functional environment, and maintain public health and future service for park visitors and staff. Portions of the sanitary sewage collection system were originally constructed in 1958 of clay pipe and currently service the lodge, staff housing, and visitor center before feeding into sewage treatment lagoons. Sections of the sewage system have deteriorated significantly with age. These sections of the system and appurtenant manholes are deteriorating into pieces that regularly clog the system and cause …

Advanced Access model has been introduced in general practice in the United States to improve patient access to primary health care services for more than ten years. It has brought in the benefits of eliminating service provider’s waiting lists, improving patients’ timely access to services and reducing no-show rate. However, to implement this model, practices need to collect relevant information, develop contingency plans and set up practice strategies to balance the provision of care and patient’s demand. Background: A research team from Monash University and Peninsula Health, Victoria is undertaking a trial of digital pen and paper technology for clinical pathway management. Digital pen and paper allows for the capture of images of handwritten documents using an embedded camera in the pen which is matched with special patterns of dots on the paper. These digitised images can be uploaded to a database for analysis. Objectives: Clinical pathways have been adopted in most Australian hospitals to document and manage multidisciplinary care across a variety of acute care environments. This paper presents a fast estimation method for feedback level factor C of a self-mixing interferometry (SMI) system. The reconstruction of a displacement waveform using a SMI signal needs to know a C value. However, it is difficult to maintain a constant C value during the reconstruction process. We study the features of the reconstructed displacement waveforms incorporating different pre-set C values and classify waveforms into two types. Bisection method is introduced in our method for fast estimating C value. The effectiveness of our proposed method has been verified by both simulation and experimental data.

This paper describes the design, development and validation of an autonomous gas sensing platform prototype for monitoring of the greenhouse gases, methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2). The deployment undertaken for validation of the developed prototype monitored landfill gas migration to perimeter borehole wells on a landfill site. Target gas concentrations were captured via infrared gas sensors tuned for each target gas and data reported to an offsite data collection point at 12 hour intervals. Efficient stock management in the commercial retail sector is being dominated by Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag implementations. Research reports of the security risk of RFID tags show that breaches are likely and that forensic readiness is a requirement. In this paper a RFID tag business simulation is reported that replicates previous research reports of security breaches with the purpose of identifying potential evidence after such attacks. A Read/Write Tag was cloned and used to replicate a SQL poisoning attack on a simulated Business System. The description of a digital ecosystem as a “loosely coupled, demand-driven, domain clustered, agent-based, self organised, collaborative environment where agents form temporary coalitions for a specific purpose or goal, and each is proactive and responsive for its own benefit” has intriguing similarities with the definition of an ecosystem in ecology. Perhaps the similarities suggest that a deeper understanding of ecology may benefit the further development of ICT, and any differences may therefore represent cautionary tales. Railway signaling facilitates two main functions, namely, train detection and train control, in order to maintain safe separations among the trains. Track circuits are the most commonly used train detection means with the simple open/close circuit principles; and subsequent adoption of axle counters further allows the detection of trains under adverse track conditions. Optical feedback Self-mixing Interferometry (OFSMI) can achieve a high-resolution displacement sensing and measurement by using advanced digital signal processing. However, most existing signal processing algorithms used for OFSMI signals are implemented on a PC by Matlab or other programming languages. In this work, we report on our studies on the multiferroic properties of two rare earth chromates, GdCrO3 and YCrO3. Polycrystalline bulks and thin films have been fabricated using conventional solid state reaction and pulsed laser deposition. Magnetic measurements have revealed that both compounds show weak ferromagnetism below the antiferromagnetic Neel temperature, TN, of 170 and 140 K for GdCrO3 and YCrO3, respectively. However the well-developed ferroelectric polarization electrical field loop was not successfully measured for both samples due to their low resistance. We address the problem of interference using the Heisenberg picture and highlight some new aspects through the use of pre-selection, post-selection, weak measurements and modular variables. We present a physical explanation for the different behaviors of a single particle when the distant slit is open or closed; instead of having a quantum wave that passes through all slits, we have a localized particle with non-local interactions with the other slit(s). We introduce a Gedanken experiment to measure this non-local exchange. While the Heisenberg and Schrodinger pictures are equivalent formulations of quantum mechanics, nevertheless, the results discussed here support a new …
