Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

The aim of this work is to develop suggestions for designated standards for the display of natural and cultural assets in the design of a Geopark. During a continuing dynamic period detailed work continues to be carried out by experts on the natural and cultural assets found within Geosites that are part of Geoparks according to National laws and guidelines and international agreements. This article proposes standard identity cards, to be used during the period of preparation of a Geopark Project within an area that encompasses a known number of natural and cultural assets. This enables a shared organisation and …

Investigation Of The Water Resources In Köprüören Basin (Kütahya) With Environmental Isotopes, Şebnem Arslan

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

In this study, the isotopic properties of the water resources located in Köprüören Basin are determined. δ18O and δD contents of the samples respectively ranged from -10.84‰ to -7.09‰ and from -73.6‰ to -53.3‰ in dry season and ranged from -10.81‰ to -4.71‰ and -73.3‰ to -41.5‰ in wet season. Majority of the samples plotted along Global Meteoric Water Line although some of them show deviations from this line. The reason for the deviations are attributed to evaporative enrichment, modifying the original δ18O and δD signatures of the samples. δ18O content of the thermal samples are not modified as a …

Spatial Cluster And Outlier Identification Of Geochemical Association Of Elements: A Case Study In Juirui Copper Mining Area, Thanh Nguyen Ti̇en, Tuyen Vu Danh, Hung Tri̇nh Le Hung, Hang Nguyen Thi̇ Le Hang

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

Spatial clusters and spatial outliers play an important role in the study of the spatial distribution patterns of geochemical data. They characterize the fundamental properties of mineralization processes, the spatial distribution of mineral deposits, and ore element concentrations in mineral districts. In this study, a new method for the study of spatial distribution patterns of multivariate data is proposed based on a combination of robust Mahalanobis distance and local Moran’s Ii. In order to construct the spatial matrix, the Moran’s I spatial correlogram was first used to determine the range. The robust Mahalanobis distances were then computed for an association …

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

The basement units of the studied region are Paleozoic-Mesozoic Keban metamorphic and Upper Cretaceous Elazığ magmatics. As a result of tectonic events caused by final collision in Middle Maastrichtian, all these basement units were juxtaposed, uplifted, eroded and acted as source areas for the Upper Cretaceous-Paleogene basins. Upper Cretaceous-Paleogene units were sampled systematically in order to determine their ages and lithologies. These marine units were identified as Harami, Seske and Kırkgeçit formations based on new age data and their stratigraphic positions. Other units of the study area are Upper Oligocene-Lower Miocene Alibonca formation and Pliyosen Karabakır formation. Harami formation, late …

Investigation Of The Seismic Velocity Distribution And Crustal Structure Of Turkey By Means Of Gravity Data, Uğur Akin

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

In this study, the apparent gravity density data was measured for Turkey using apparent density filter, and the seismic velocity distribution map was generated from this data cluster. By interpreting these two measured data clusters, three dimensional structure of the Conrad discontinuity was investigated. The apparent gravity filter is a kind of filter which is used in the apparent gravity measurements for different depth levels different than gravity data. In this study, considering previously measured distribution of the continental crustal thickness of the Anatolia, the density maps for different depth levels were formed and interpreted. The lowest and highest densities …

An Approach To The Origin Of The Early Cambrian Karaçat Iron Deposit (Mansurlu Basin, Adana) And Iron Deposits Outcrops At Its Eastern Parts, Taner Ünlü, Semih Gürsu, Deniz Ti̇ri̇nga

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

The Neoproterozoic basement and the Early Cambrian units are widely exposed around the Karaçat Iron Deposit and its surrounding, which are located at the eastern part of Tauride-Anatolide platform. The main mineralization was detected as hematite in all deposits in the study area. The ore microscopy, SEM and EDX studies show that carbonate pseudomorphs in hematite have developed and their chemical compositions are enriched in Ca, Mg, Fe, C and O elements. The geochemical analyses of hematite and siderite minerals reveal that both ore mineral types have similar patterns of Rare Earth Element (REE). These data and field observations reveal …

Opaque Mineral Content Of Dutluca Volcanics (Burhani̇ye - Balikesi̇r): The Effect Of Hydrothermal Alteration On These Minerals, Şükrü Koç, Nihal Çevi̇k May 2016

Opaque Mineral Content Of Dutluca Volcanics (Burhani̇ye - Balikesi̇r): The Effect Of Hydrothermal Alteration On These Minerals, Şükrü Koç, Nihal Çevi̇k

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

Dutluca volcanics, which are known as Hallaçlar Formation in regional scale in the study area (Kurshensky, 1976), are composed of hydrothermally altered andesite and basaltic andesite. In these rocks, sulfidic minerals such as pyrite, enargite and chalcosine, and oxide and hydroxide minerals such as magnetite, hematite and goethite were detected as opaque minerals. The presence of enargite in opaque mineral paragenesis, and the changes observed in structures and textures of opaque and silicate minerals indicate that examined volcanics have been altered by highly sulfidic hydrothermal solutions. During the hydrothermal alteration process, which indicates at least in two phases, a diffuse …
