Separation of liquid mixtures, especially organic liquid mixtures, is widely used in industrial processes but still faces challenges with respect to separation in a high-efficiency, low-energy mode. In this work, we report a flexible wettability-tunable nanofibrous membrane composed of a high-performance fluoro-polymer as the matrix and fluorosilane as a surface energy regulator that can be successfully applied in immiscible organic liquid mixture separation. The separation is achieved by tuning the surface energy of a membrane to a value between the surface tensions of two organic liquids. Moreover, for use in different mixed liquid systems, we programmatically designed nanofibrous membranes with …

The simplicity of measuring equipment and versatility of data analysis makes electrochemical noise measurement an ideal technique for acquiring electrochemical information about the corrosion behavior of a painted metal relatively quickly. Hence the method has great potential for use in the laboratory as well as in field situations. However, special care must be taken in choosing data acquisition parameters, reference electrodes and symmetry of electrodes in order to achieve reproducible measurements. These areas have been discussed in this review along with methods of data analysis, alternative electrode configurations for on-site measurements and novel applications of the technique.

Nitrogen-doped carbon coated Co 3 O 4 nanoparticles (Co 3 O 4 @NC) with high Na-ion storage capacity and unprecedented long-life cycling stability are reported in this paper. The Co 3 O 4 @NC was derived from a metal – organic framework ZIF-67, where the Co ions and organic linkers were, respectively, converted to Co 3 O 4 nanoparticle cores and nitrogen-doped carbon shells through a controlled two-step annealing process. The Co 3 O 4 @NC shows a porous nature with a surface area of 101 m 2 g 1 . When applied as an anode for sodium ion batteries …
