The influence of noncovalent interactions with sodium cations on the conformations and energetics of ten DNA and RNA nucleosides as well as two adenine mononucleotides were elucidated via infrared multiple photon dissociation (IRMPD) action spectroscopy experiments and complementary electronic structure calculations.
