There is a need in the scientific world to design and develop high quality nanomaterials with multifunctional applications. In this work, we explore the molten-salt method (MSS) as a new green method for the synthesis of complex metal oxides. We adjusted all synthesis parameters such as time, temperature and pH to generate an optimum La2Hf2O7 nanoparticle with a well define shape and surface. Activator ions such as Eu3+, Tb3+, Dy3+, Bi3+ and uranium ion (U4+, U6+) were used to monitor its structural and optical behavior effect when doped.

In this paper we outline a method for obtaining generalized peakon solutions for a cubic Camassa-Holm model originally introduced by Fokas (1995) and recently shown to have a Lax pair representation and bi-Hamiltonian structure by Qiao et al (2012). Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) - magnetite (Fe3O4) blended compounds were produced by high speed vibration milling of PEEK-Fe 3O4 powders exposed to hexane and heated to the melting point (~350 °C) to form the homogeneous magnetic polymer composite, which provided a uniform dispersion of magnetite with low agglomerations in the polymer matrix. Polymer composite with 10 wt.% of magnetite displayed a magnetic saturation of 8 emu/g, tensile strength of 60 MPa and Young’s modulus of 4.4 GPa. Poly(ϵ-caprolactone) (PCL) is a biodegradable polyester notorious by its promising properties and applications in the biomedical field. In this work, microwave-assisted ringopening polymerization (ROP) of ϵ-caprolactone (ϵ-CL) was performed. Stannous octoate [Sn(Oct)2] was used as catalyst with and without an alcohol initiator. The different initiators tested were glycerol, diethylene glycol (DEG) and poly(ethylene) glycol (PEG). Aiming to establish reaction parameters, the influence of different reaction times, temperatures, and monomer:initiator:catalyst ratios were examined. It was observed that the reaction was obtained and high molecular weight PCL was achieved successfully without an initiator. However, mixed results were obtained using an initiator. Products …

An introduction to the relations of classical and quantum mechanics are presented in brief. As is an overview of the instrumentation and quantum chemical analysis performed to characterize the molecules presented in in this thesis. The pure rotational spectrum of 3,3,3-trifluoro-2(trifluoromethyl)propanoic acid, perfluorobutyric acid–formic acid dimer, and tropolone–formic acid dimer were measured using high-resolution microwave spectroscopy. The spectra have been observed using a cavity-based Fourier-transform microwave (FTMW) spectrometer and/or a chirped-pulse FTMW.

Coral Reef ecosystems have degraded over years due to a variety of environmental issues such as ocean acidification. The continuous stress has detrimental effects on coral reef ecosystems that can possibly lead to the loss of the ecosystem. Our research aims to construct a prototype of an artificial reef by consolidating dredge sand from the ship channels of South Texas. LiFePO4/C composite nanofibers were prepared by utilizing Forcespinning® technology and calcination approaches. Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) was dissolved in N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF) to produce the media that allotted nanofiber formation via Forcespinning® and also served as the carbon source. A LiFePO4 solution was synthesized separately in DMF, which served as the precursor. The separately prepared PAN/DMF and LiFePO4/DMF solutions were then mixed at different weight percent’s (wt.%) prior to being subjected to Forcespinning ®. We Develop an interactive algorithm for the set cover problem. The algorithm uses multiple stages and select some sets each stage via random samples among the uncovered points. We show that it has a O(log n)—approximation ratio and takes O(log n) rounds and O(m2+ϵ ) samples each round, where n is the size of universal set and m is the number of sets.

We also prove a Ω(√logn/loglogn) lower bound for both the number of phases if each phase has poly(m) the number of samples.

The Finite Element Method is used to find the time dependent solution for an incompressible viscous fluid flow in a cavity in two dimension. The governing equations for this system are the continuity equation and the momentum equation. We use finite element method to obtain the dependent variables. Here we derive weak formulation and develop finite element model by using Galerkin Method. Then we compute velocity components of the fluid for a square cavity. The numerical results are presented.

The problem of the strict self-assembly of infinite fractals within tile self-assembly is considered. In particular, tile assembly algorithms are provided for the assembly of the discrete Sierpinski triangle and the discrete Sierpinski carpet.

The robust random number generation problem in the abstract tile assembly model is introduced. First, it is shown this is possible for a robust fair coin flip within the aTAM, and that such systems guarantee a worst case O(1) space usage. This primary construction is accompanied with variants that show trade-offs in space complexity, initial seed size, temperature, tile complexity, bias, and extensibility.

Self-assembly is the process by which simple, unorganized components autonomously combine to form larger, more complex structures. Researchers are turning to self-assembly technology for the design of ever smaller, more complex, and precise nanoscale devices, and as an emerging fundamental tool for nanotechnology.

We introduce the robust random number generation problem, the problem of encoding a target string of bits in the form of a bit string pad, and the problem of shape replication in various models of tile-based self-assembly. The hydrodesulphurization (HDS) of crude oils is an important industrial process to remove sulfur from fuels. In this study, DBT was used as a model compound to study the removal of sulfur from a decahydronaphthalene solution. The catalyst was synthesized through low pressure pathways in the absence of H2S. All the synthesized catalyst were investigated using a combination of SEM, RAMAN spectroscopy, and XRD.
