Rapid, multichannel monitoring of fumaroles on Volcán Colima, Mexico, provides new insight into the time‐scales and magnitudes of fumarole temperature variation. Temperatures in five fumaroles, all located along a single fracture cutting the summit lava dome of the volcano, were monitored at 20‐min intervals between May 1991 and May 1992. Measurements were made using a programmable data logger deployed near the fumarole field, and data were radiotelemetered to a nearby volcano observatory at regular intervals. Mean fumarole temperatures varied between 350°C and 550°C. Statistical analysis of these time series shows that significant diurnal variation occurs in each fumarole. Magnitudes of …

Gps Measurement Of Relative Motion Of The Cocos And Caribbean Plates And Strain Accumulation Across The Middle America Trench, Timothy H. Dixon Oct 1993

Gps Measurement Of Relative Motion Of The Cocos And Caribbean Plates And Strain Accumulation Across The Middle America Trench, Timothy H. Dixon

School of Geosciences Faculty and Staff Publications

Global Positioning System (GPS) measurements in 1988 and 1991 on Cocos Island (Cocos plate), San Andres Island (Caribbean plate), and Liberia (Caribbean plate, mainland Costa Rica) provide an estimate of relative motion between the Cocos and Caribbean plates. The data for Cocos and San Andres Islands, both located more than 400 km from the Middle America Trench, define a velocity that is equivalent within two standard errors (7 mm/yr rate, 5 degrees azimuth) to the NUVEL-1 plate motion model. The data for Liberia, 120 km from the trench, define a velocity that is similar in azimuth but substantially different in …

Results Of The City Of Tampa Surface Water Compliance Monitoring Program For The Year 1992 And Examination Of Long-Term Water Quality And Biological Indicator Trends In In Hillsborough Bay, City Of Tampa Department Of Sanitary Sewers

Reports

This report is submitted to Florida Department of Environmental Regulation (FDER) to satisfy the requirements set forth in specific condition No. 12 of Hookers Point WWTP permit No. D029-184532B. The report is based on data obtained by the City of Tampa (COT) compliance water quality monitoring program approved under construction permit DC29-152799 and the report also includes examination of long-term trends for water quality parameters and biological indicators collected by the City of Tampa Bay Study Group and the Environmental Protection Commission of Hillsborough County (EPC).

Nutrient Enrichment Studies Of Tampa Bay Phytoplankton General Information And Laboratory Procedures, City Of Tampa Department Of Sanitary Sewers Apr 1993

Nutrient Enrichment Studies Of Tampa Bay Phytoplankton General Information And Laboratory Procedures, City Of Tampa Department Of Sanitary Sewers

Reports

In response to the requirement by DER, the City of Tampa, Department of Sanitary Sewers, has contracted with Dr. Vargo at USF-MSI to conduct nutrient enrichment experiments using the U.S. EPA approved "Marine Algal Assay Procedure: Bottle Test" (U.S. EPA 1974) with the green alga Dunaliella tertiolecta as the assay organism. Refer to the USF study plan (Vargo 1993) for details of this bioassay test. All field sampling for the USF bioassay will be performed by City of Tampa Bay Study Group (COT-BSG) personnel. Laboratory analyses of ambient nutrient concentrations will be done by the EPC laboratory and possible by …

Seagrass And Caulerpa Monitoring In Hillsborough Bay Fourth Annual Report, City Of Tampa Department Of Sanitary Sewers Mar 1993

Seagrass And Caulerpa Monitoring In Hillsborough Bay Fourth Annual Report, City Of Tampa Department Of Sanitary Sewers

Reports

This is the fourth annual report to FDER to satisfy the requirements set forth in specific condition #14 of FDER construction permit DO29-1845321B.

The City of Tampa, Bay Study Group (BSG), has monitored the effects of sewage pollution abatement in Hillsborough Bay since 1976. Within the last decade, water quality improvements and evidence of minor seagrass revegetation in Hillsborough Bay prompted the BSG to initiate a seagrass study to compliment other programs assessing the environmental status of Hillsborough Bay.

State Of Tampa Bay 1991-92, Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council (Tbrpc), Agency On Bay Management

Reports

Each year the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council's Agency on Bay Management develops a report on the condition of the Tampa Bay estuary to identify activities and actions that have taken place during the previous year. This is the sixth "State of Tampa Bay" prepared under adopted rules of the Agency. Since the Legislature now meets earlier in the calender year, this report contains activities in 1991 and 1992 to accommodate this timing change. The purpose of the "State of Tampa Bay" is to • serve as a reference for projects, programs and organizations that affect the bay and its watershed …

Data Sets

The Bay Study Group was created by the City of Tampa in 1976 to monitor the effects of pollution abatement that occurred in Hillsborough Bay when the city’s wastewater treatment plant was upgraded from primary to advanced treatment in 1979. The Bay Study Group documented a remarkable restoration of water quality parameters and biological indicators in Hillsborough Bay from the mid 1980s until 2009, when it was disbanded. This zip Geodatabase file contains the photo point locations, aerial photos, and flight maps for the year 1993.
