The US military has spent billions of dollars and sacrificed many lives in the effort to bring electrical power services and the fuel that drives the generators to forward-deployed bases in Afghanistan and Iraq over the past 10 years. In an effort to reduce some of these tremendous costs, the US military has considered using alternative energy sources to generate electricity and reduce costs and exposure of fuel truck convoys.
