High Photoresponse From Solution Processed Conventional And Inverted Ultraviolet Photodetectors, Görkem Memi̇şoğlu, Canan Varlikli

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

The optical and electrical properties of conventional and inverted type ultraviolet photodetectors (UVPDs) with active layers of poly(9,9-dioctylfluorenyl-2,7-ylenethynylene (PFE), $N$,$N'$-bis-$n$-butyl-1,4,5,8-naphthalenediimide (BNDI), and zincoxide (ZnO) are introduced. Optimized devices showed high photoresponse, external quantum efficiency (EQE), and detectivity (D*) values. Under 365 nm 1 mW/cm$^{2}$, the conventional device (ITO/PEDOT:PSS/[(PFE:BNDI) (3:1):8 wt% ZnO]/Al) and the inverted device (ITO/[(PFE:BNDI)(3:1):8 wt% ZnO]/Au) gave photoresponsivities of 515 mA/W and 316 mA/W, D* of 1.12 $\times$ 10$^{14 }$Jones and 0.71 $\times$ 10$^{14 }$Jones, and EQE of 174% and 107%, respectively. Annealing the devices at polymer's glass transition temperature (T$_{g}$ 60 $^{\circ}$ C), enhanced these values to …

Gamma Irradiation Effect On The Optical Properties And Refractive Index Dispersion Of Dye Doped Polystyrene Films, Tariq J. Alwan Jan 2012

Gamma Irradiation Effect On The Optical Properties And Refractive Index Dispersion Of Dye Doped Polystyrene Films, Tariq J. Alwan

Turkish Journal of Physics

In this work, we have studied the effect of the gamma irradiation on the optical properties and optical constants of Polystyrene doped by methylene blue (mb) with thickness in the range 0.11 + 5 mm. The samples have been investigated via transmittance and reflectance spectra, and characterized in the wavelength range 300-900 nm. The optical band gap E_g was determined while the optical absorption spectra showed that the absorption mechanism is an indirect allowed transition, which found that optical energy gap E_g decreases after irradiation. The optical constants (refractive index, extinction coefficient, and real and imaginary parts of the dielectric …

Preparation Of Polystyrene/Montmorillonite Nanocomposites: Optimization By Response Surface Methodology (Rsm), Sadik Erdem Yalçinkaya, Nuray Yildiz, Mehmet Saçak, Ayla Çalimli Jan 2010

Preparation Of Polystyrene/Montmorillonite Nanocomposites: Optimization By Response Surface Methodology (Rsm), Sadik Erdem Yalçinkaya, Nuray Yildiz, Mehmet Saçak, Ayla Çalimli

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Preparation of polystyrene (PS)-montmorillonite nanocomposites was carried out in 3 steps: purification and determination of the cation exchange capacity (CEC) of clay, synthesis of organoclay, and preparation of nanocomposites. In organoclay synthesis, 3 types of surfactants, long-chained (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)), short-chained (tetraethylammonium bromide (TEAB)), and ringed (benzyltriethylammonium bromide (BTEAB)), were used. Gallery distances of pure clay and organoclays (CTAB-O, TEAB-O, and BTEAB-O) were determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis as 1.25, 2.09, 1.52, and 1.63 nm, respectively. Preparation of nanocomposites was carried out by in situ polymerization. Composites, containing 2%, 4%, and 6% organoclay by mass, were characterized by XRD, …

Synthesis And Physical Studies Of Polycarbonate Of P-Tert-}Butylcalix[4]Arene: A Highly Selective Receptor For Na^+, Muhammad Ashram, Nawash Al Ghezawi, Ibrahim Abu Awaad, Gülsen Asman Jan 2009

Synthesis And Physical Studies Of Polycarbonate Of P-Tert-}Butylcalix[4]Arene: A Highly Selective Receptor For Na^+, Muhammad Ashram, Nawash Al Ghezawi, Ibrahim Abu Awaad, Gülsen Asman

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The synthesis and characterization of a polycarbonate of p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene 4 are reported. It was synthesized by condensation of p-tert-butylcalix[4]arenetetraol derivative 3 with ethyl chloroformate. This new polymer possesses a hydrolyzable backbone and tunable hydrophobic/hydrophilic properties. The experimental results indicate that the polycarbonate was successfully synthesized with average molecular weight \overline{M}_{w}, (2.328 \times 10^4 g/mol), which was determined by static light scattering method using a Berry plot. The structure of this polymer was determined by IR spectroscopy. The thermal properties were investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The degree of crystallinity was measured by means of XRD. The extraction ability of …

Synthesis And Characterization Of Novel Polyamide And Polyhydrazides Based On The 6,6´-Disubstituted-2,2´-Bipyridine, Abdurrahman Şengül, Hülya Arslan Jan 2008

Synthesis And Characterization Of Novel Polyamide And Polyhydrazides Based On The 6,6´-Disubstituted-2,2´-Bipyridine, Abdurrahman Şengül, Hülya Arslan

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The monomers namely 6,6'-dicarbonylchloride-2,2'-bipyridine (1) and 6,6'-dihydrazine-2,2'-bipyridine (2) were synthesized and characterized thoroughly. The polyhydrazides (PHZ1 and PHZ2) were obtained by direct polycondensation of 2 with terephtaloylchloride (TPCl}), and novel polyamide (PA1) by direct polycondensation of 1 with hexametyhlenediamine (HMDA}). Polymers with low PDIs were generated in all cases (PD \sim 1.02-1.3). The polymers were characterized by ^1H and ^{13}C NMR, FT-IR, and Gel Permission Chromatography (GPC).

Online Viscosity Measurement Of Complex Solutions Using Ultrasound Doppler Velocimetry, Volkan Köseli̇, Şeri̇fe Zeybek, Yusuf Uludağ Jan 2006

Online Viscosity Measurement Of Complex Solutions Using Ultrasound Doppler Velocimetry, Volkan Köseli̇, Şeri̇fe Zeybek, Yusuf Uludağ

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

A new method to measure the viscosity of non-Newtonian fluids over a wide range of shear rates in a short period of time is presented. The technique is based on the measurement of the velocity profile in a pipe flow using ultrasound Doppler velocimetry (UDV), which is a non-invasive method, and simultaneously determining the pressure drop. The velocity profile is used to obtain shear rate distribution, while the pressure drop is used to calculate the shear stress distribution. By taking the ratio of these quantities at a radial position, local viscosity can be obtained within the shear rate range in …
