LSTM-SDM is a python-based integrated computational framework built on the top of Tensorflow/Keras and written in the Jupyter notebook. It provides several object-oriented functionalities for implementing single layer and multilayer LSTM models for sequential data modeling and time series forecasting. Multiple subroutines are blended to create a conducive user-friendly environment that facilitates data exploration and visualization, normalization and input preparation, hyperparameter tuning, performance evaluations, visualization of results, and statistical analysis. We utilized the LSTM-SDM framework in predicting the stock market index and observed impressive results. The framework can be generalized to solve several other real-world time series problems.
Conformal Symmetries Of The Energy–Momentum Tensor Of Spherically Symmetric Static Spacetimes, Ugur Camci, Khalid Saifullah
Conformal Symmetries Of The Energy–Momentum Tensor Of Spherically Symmetric Static Spacetimes, Ugur Camci, Khalid Saifullah
Arts & Sciences Faculty Publications
Conformal matter collineations of the energy–momentum tensor of a general spherically symmetric static spacetime are studied. The general form of these collineations is found when the energy–momentum tensor is non-degenerate, and the maximum number of independent conformal matter collineations is 15. In the degenerate case of the energy–momentum tensor, it is found that these collineations have infinite degrees of freedom. In some subcases of degenerate energy– momentum, the Ricci tensor is non-degenerate, that is, there exist non-degenerate Ricci inheritance collineations.

In this paper, we will trace the development of the use of symmetry in discussing the theory of motion initiated by Emmy Noether in 1918. Though it started with its use in classical mechanics, and has been heavily used in engineering applications of mechanics, it came into its own in relativity, and quantum theory and their applications in particle physics and field theory. It will be beyond the scope of this article to explain the quantum field theory applications in any detail, but the base for understanding it will be provided here. We will also go on to discuss an …

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many people throughout the world. The objective of this research project was to find numerical solutions through the Gaussian Quadrature Method for the Volterra Integral Equation Model. The non-homogenous Volterra Integral Equation of the second kind is used to capture a broader range of disease distributions. Volterra Integral equation models are used in the context of applied mathematics, public health, and evolutionary biology. The mathematical models of this integral equation gave valid convergence results for the COVID-19 data for 3 countries Italy, South Africa and Brazil. The modeling of these countries was done using the …

Mathematical Model Investigating The Effects Of Neurostimulation Therapies On Neural Functioning: Comparing The Effects Of Neuromodulation Techniques On Ion Channel Gating And Ionic Flux Using Finite Element Analysis, Kaia Lindberg
Mathematics Theses
Neurostimulation therapies demonstrate success as a medical intervention for individuals with neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. Despite promising results from these treatments, the influence of an electric current on ion concentrations and subsequent transmembrane voltage is unclear. This project focuses on developing a unique cellular-level mathematical model of neurostimulation to better understand its e↵ects on neuronal electrodynamics. The mathematical model presented here integrates the Poisson-Nernst-Planck system of PDEs and Hodgkin-Huxley based ODEs to model the e↵ects of this neurotherapy on transmembrane voltage, ion channel gating, and ionic mobility. This system is decoupled using the Gauss-Seidel method and …

Radiosity Integral Equation Model For An Interior Space Illumination Design: Mars Project, Hien Ngo
Mathematics Theses
This research project is focused on finding the true solution of the exterior Dirichlet problem to determine the convergence results for the Spherical Quatrefoil using the Galerkin Method. A mathematical model, based on the Radiosity integral equation will be utilized to investigate the role of incoming light waves for different surfaces with various emissivity and reflectivity functions. Theoretical and computational details of the method will provide sufficient information for designing proper lighting of an interior space inside a habitat that can ultimately be used for future endeavors in Mars exploration.

Synthesis And Kinetic Activity Analysis Of Substituted Pyrazole, Pyrazoline, And Pyrazolidine Alcohol Dehydrogenase Inhibitors, Meagan E. Hackey
Chemistry Theses
Alcohol dehydrogenase inhibitors may be employed for the treatment of parasitic infection in humans. A series of substituted pyrazoline derivatives were synthesized to elucidate the pharmacophore for the inhibition of ADH. Targeted structure modification was used to alter the electronic and steric interactions associated with the enzyme active site. This study identified several effective N-aryl-carboxamide derivatives with horse liver ADH inhibition, comparable to that of 4-methylpyrazole, a known ADH inhibitor. The identification of pharmacophoric regions will allow for the methodological modification of these compounds to improve enzyme affinity and targeted inhibition. Future research may include additional solubility, toxicity and …
Numerical Solutions Of The Radiosity Equation By The Galerkin Method For The Spherical Pyramid (Mars Project), Qiuyang Deng
Numerical Solutions Of The Radiosity Equation By The Galerkin Method For The Spherical Pyramid (Mars Project), Qiuyang Deng
Mathematics Theses
The Radiosity of a surface is the rate at which energy leaves that surface. It includes the energy emitted by a surface as well as the energy reflected. In this thesis, a spherical shaped interior space was designed on a spacecraft, which one day might land on Mars. The Radiosity model was used to determine the brightness inside the space. A global Galerkin method is used to solve the Radiosity Equation for several spherical shapes. This research is based on the study of the Radiosity Equation for occluded surfaces using the Collocation Method by Atkinson and Chein. The previous research …

The Numerical Solution Of The Helmholtz Equation For The Bloodcell Shape: Mars Project, Jill Kelly Resh
The Numerical Solution Of The Helmholtz Equation For The Bloodcell Shape: Mars Project, Jill Kelly Resh
Mathematics Theses
The objective of this research is to investigate numerical solutions of several boundary value problems for the Helmholtz equation for the shape of a Biconcave Disk. The boundary value problems this research mainly focuses on are the Neumann and Robin boundary problems. The Biconcave Disk is a closed, simply connected, bounded shape modi ed from a sphere where the two sides concave toward the center, mapped by a sine curve. There are some numerical issues in this type of analysis; any integration is a ected by the wave number k, because of the oscillatory behavior of the fundamental solution of …
The Numerical Solution Of The Exterior Impedance (Robin) Problem For The Helmholtz’S Equation Via Modified Galerkin Method: Superllipsoid, Hy Dinh
Mathematics Theses
This thesis focuses on finding the solution for the exterior Robin Problem for the Helmholtz Equation and therefore, determines how a convergent smooth surface depending on its outer shape, in this case the superellipsoid, responds to different outer waves. The primary purpose is to calculate the possibility of a certain object, acquiring sufficient conditions, to either submerge under respectively high water pressure or maintain in outer space; if applicable, this approach can be used for a new efficient design of a portion of a submarine or part of a space craft, the second of more interest to NASA, one of …

Context. Observations of the γ-ray sky with Fermi led to significant advances towards understanding blazars, the most extreme class of active galactic nuclei. A large fraction of the population detected by Fermi is formed by BL Lacertae (BL Lac) objects, whose sample has always suffered from a severe redshift incompleteness due to the quasi-featureless optical spectra. Aims. Our goal is to provide a significant increase of the number of confirmed high-redshift BL Lac objects contained in the 2 LAC Fermi/LAT cataloge.Methods. For 103 Fermi/LAT blazars, photometric redshifts using spectral energy distribution fitting have been obtained. The photometry includes 13 broad-band filters …

Context. After the launch of the Swift satellite, the gamma-ray burst (GRB) optical light-curve smoothness paradigm has been questioned thanks to the faster and better sampled optical follow-up, which has unveiled a very complex behaviour. This complexity is triggering the interest of the whole GRB community. The GROND multi-channel imager is used to study optical and near-infrared (NIR) afterglows of GRBs with unprecedented optical and near-infrared temporal and spectral resolution. The GRB 081029 has a very prominent optical rebrightening event and is an outstanding example of the application of the multi-channel imager to GRB afterglows. Aims. Here we exploit the …
