The Internet Archive's Wayback Machine is the most common way that typical users interact with web archives. The Internet Archive uses the Heritrix web crawler to transform pages on the publicly available web into Web ARChive (WARC) files, which can then be accessed using the Wayback Machine. Because Heritrix can only access the publicly available web, many personal pages (e.g. password-protected pages, social media pages) cannot be easily archived into the standard WARC format. We have created a Google Chrome extension, WARCreate, that allows a user to create a WARC file from any webpage. Using this tool, content that might …

Schemes utilizing crab cavities to achieve head-on beam-beam collisions were proposed for the LHC HiLumi upgrade. These crabbing schemes require that the crab cavities be compact in order to fit into the tight spacing available in the existing LHC beamlines at the location where the crab cavities will be installed. Under the support of US LARP program, Old Dominion University and SLAC have joint efforts to develop a 400-MHz compact superconducting crab cavity to meet the HiLumi upgrade requirements. In this paper, we will present the RF modeling and analysis of a parallel-bar/ridged-waveguide shaped 400-MHz compact cavity design that can …

Green Transportation For A Green Earth, Petros J. Katsioloudis, Mildred V. Jones Jan 2012

Green Transportation For A Green Earth, Petros J. Katsioloudis, Mildred V. Jones

Transportation is one of the biggest contributors to the destruction of the environment. Results from environmental research and pursuant governmental regulations are changing the way companies do business and how transportation systems address the future. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been at the forefront in leading environmental research and instituting policies and regulations to fight the issues impacting the environment. The transportation industry and consumers alike are concerned about the environment, energy resources, efficiencies, and economics. In this article, the authors suggest that it is vital that people promote the protection of the environment and strengthen the laws that …
