Journal of Electrochemistry

The chemical compounds of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (2-MBT), benzotriazole (BTA) and phenoxyethanol (MSDS) as corrosion inhibitors were used to inhibit the copper etching to form the thick copper line of PCB in the acidic etching solution. The inhibition status was characterized with contact angle measurement, electrochemical test and etch factor calculation, while the corrosion morphology of copper surface was studied by scanning electron microscope. The adsorption mechanism of corrosion inhibitors on copper surface is analyzed by molecular dynamics and quantum chemistry calculations. The inhibition effect of glutamic acid towards the corrosion of X65 steel in hydrochloric acid solution(10%) was investigated using polarization techniques、electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) and SEM.The corrosion rate,corrosion potential(Ecoor),polarization resistance(Rp) and inhibition efficiency(η) were determined.The results revealed that the inhibitor is a mixed type inhibitor.It has promising corrosion inhibition efficiency at low concentrations.The inhibition efficiency(η) increased with increasing the concentration.The maximum inhibition efficiency appeared at 0.3 g·L-1.

Inhibition Mechanism Of The Imidazoline Derivate In H_2s Solution, Jing-Mao Zhao, He-Xia Liu, Chao Xiao, Yuan Lu

Weight-loss method and polarization curve measurement were employed to study the inhibition mechanism of imidazoline derivate for mild steel in acidic solution with H2S.The results show that the derivate can retard the cathodic process,and belongs to the cathodic-type inhibitor.The adsorption of the derivate on the surface of mild steel accords with the amended Langmuir adsorption isothermal equation,and higher temperature will facilitate its adsorption.The changes in the apparent activation energy(Ea) and the pre-exponential factor(A) of the corrosion reaction before and after the addition of inhibitor were also discussed.

Effects Of Sulfide Ions On The Inhibiting Efficiency Of Eda As A Copper Corrosion Inhibitor In Dilute Hcl Solution, Wen-Juan Qu, Rong-Gui Du

The anticorrosion action of EDA on copper in dilute HCl solution and the effect of sulfide ions on the inhibiting efficiency were studied by the Tafel plot method.The corrosion potential of Cu shifted to more positive value and the corrosion current density decreased after the addition of Na_(2)S to the solution.The results indicated that sulphide ions could increase the inhibiting efficiency of EDA because of the synergistic inhibition effect between EDA and Na_2S,resulting from the adsorption of HS~(-)on the surface of Cu,facilitated the adsorption of EDA to form a highly protective adsorbed layer which prevented Cu from corrosion.

The Inhibition Synergistic Effect Between Imidazoline Derivative And Thiourea, Jing-Mao Zhao, He-Xia Liu, Wei Di, Yu Zuo

The inhibition synergistic effect between imidazoline and thiourea for carbon steel in CO_2 saturated brine solution was investigated by using weight-loss method, polarization curves measureament and XPS. The results showd that the inhibition efficiency increased significantly when imidazoline derivative was added as a corrosion inhibitor in the solution together with thiourea. The N and S atoms in the inhibitor film adsorbed on the surface of carbon steel, and N atoms predominated in the film near the solution and decreased gradually with the film depth and finally S atoms were the major element in the film near the matrix.
